Pompey's 2009/10 starting 11 - Formation

Pompey's 2009/10 starting 11 - Formation

'4-4-2 is the formation for Pompey in 2009/10', not my vote, yours - although these findings from the forum poll to determine what we think our formation should be, for the 11 players we will select, are thoughts that I do agree with to be honest...

  • What the poll asked - 2009/10 Pompey team - Formation?

  • How you voted - 4-4-2 - 7 Votes [70%], 4-3-3 - 1 Vote [10%], 4-5-1 - 1 Vote [10%], 3-5-2 - 1 Vote [10%]

This poll was conducted in a thread in the Portsmouth Posts forum - click here.

So, 4-4-2 is what we are going with...

We now need to start to fill in the blanks for our 2009/10 Pompey 11 - which we will select from the squad we currently have, well what is left of it!

Again we will do this in the Portsmouth Posts forum with the latest poll question we want answering, which asks:

2009/10 Pompey team - Keeper? - click here to vote.

Before we move on what are your thoughts on what the last forum poll concluded? You know what to do, thoughts below please guys...

Liked the polled but thought that we could have had a few more formations to chose from 4-2-4 or 5-3-2 as examples.. that said I think 4-4-2 would still have won hands down....

442 at home is a must. Away, well it will depend on the opposition. Very much a case of what players we have available & playing to our strength. Last season saw too many square pegs in round holes!

A look back at this day in history, and what was happening with Pompey courtesy of our sister site PompeyRama, 30th May.

    No Crawley return for Tubbs

Tubbs doesn't have a future at Pompey, he's on the transfer-list but offloading him could be difficult given his wages. These wouldn't be anywhere within Crawley's reach.

Pitfalls of Sheffield Wednesday loanee returning

As Catlin put it 'the gamble' of aiming sign Sheffield Wednesday loanee Lavery has to be one Pompey fans understand. It isn't as cut and dried as saying 'he's a free agent' sign him!

    Lassie coming home...well sort of!

A-box-to-box player, capable of defensive duties, with ability to burst forward with intent to make things happen - Diarra is Pompey's man and wants an England return. I jest of course!
