'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Maybe Khalil isn't coming on trial?

Firstly Ahmad Khalil, along with his young UAE teammate Hamdan Al Kamali, was signing for Pompey, then this was merely a 3-week trial - now it appears that the striker is not even coming to Pompey at all?

Dr SAF was quoted as saying both would sign in the Arabian media, this saw the 'I am only going on a 3-week trial and I cannot wait' kind of response from Khalil before the denial of any deal at all from Dr SAF...

Now, according to IMScouting, the 18-year-old will be coming to England but will be going to Chelski on trial with Al Ahli's chairman of the board, Khalifa Sulaiman, saying: 'our player (Ahmad Khalil) will be gone for four weeks to Chelsea FC later this summer.'

Chief executive Ahmad Khalifa Hammad added: 'our player will be going to Chelsea and we are proud of that. We wish him luck and we hope there will be any other such opportunities such as this as he progresses in his career.'

'Reports' of a trial at Chelski previously seem to be wide of the mark though?

I know that youtube videos make everyone look 'fantastic' regardless, but this one, which was on the www.imscouting.com site, sees the guy looking pretty impressive.

It takes about a minute before any serious action kicks in and it does that annoying 'slow down and show the same clip several times, slower each time and sometimes from different angles thing' but is worth a watch. Even if it is now appearing as more of a 'lets have a look at what you could have won' type thing...

There are so many things being 'said' at the moment then days later, if not hours sometimes, other things are 'said', but at this point in time 'if' reports are accurate the guy that has been compared to Samuel Eto'o looks as though he is not even coming to Pompey for a trial this summer?

As always I guess time will tell...

It's a real shame that. Maybe he was coming to Pompey and then Chelski nipped in and grabbed him. There's a chance he wasn't even on the Chelski radar until the news about him coming to us alerted them, who knows. I am a little concerned about the backtacking though, but maybe that's something to do with the speed of modern media today.

What I hate most about this new layout is where the hell has that nice lil box above the comments gone which used to contain other recent articles?!

just alittle off topic wasnt it lol! altho i will keep it off topic too, as i do miss that as it was pretty handy, not so keen on having to keep going back to the homepage tbh...

Well it certainly proves that Dr SAF is the right man to be the next Pompey owner. He's already managed to hit just the right level of talk, doubletalk, backtrack, deny, etc that we've come to expect from the Pompey Machine. One thing that annoys me is that - despite levels of spin which would have put Alistair Campbell to shame - the mud always sticks to us. Almost makes you wonder whether we might not be better off if we just cut all the BS and told the truth. I mean, just look at all the "no firesale" spin we kept spinning in the early part of last season, and the "I'll have every penny of the Diarra sale for transfers" from TA. The papers didn't buy it for a second, so why do we bother with it at all?

So Dr Goatboy can't even get his own payers to Pompey or maybe the deal is dead in the water.

so, whatever the filtered word was you inserted, that chelski are happy to take him on trial! yep, he must be bad then...
pompeyrug
Who knows.... but Chelski obviously see enough to want a better look at him. Maybe he'll still end up with us if they aren't that impressed.
