It is infectious!

It is infectious!

So then Peter Crouch, or at least his agent, confirms that he wants to stay with Pompey and will be here next season.

He is joined by The Herminator committing the next year, at least, of his career to the club.

We might have lost Glen Johnson, but that was always likely, but with these two committing, and within such a short space of each other, would it be too presumptuous to think that 'maybe' something is brewing?

Have both been given the reassurances they needed?

Do we sense news maybe breaking soon - or is this just wishful thinking and these actions have happened as they were always likely anyway, hmmm...

==========

Well, I wrote these thoughts last night but was keeping them for today, and there have been more developments overnight...

This seems even closer now with arabianbusiness.com running a Portsmouth deal 'will be done' by July 11 article today in which it is said that an AGM will be held on that date 'at the Union Jack Club in London's Waterloo' with it also 'said' by 'sources' that 'the deal will be officially done shortly before the meeting.'

With this arabiabusiness.com source also saying: 'he will be in London for the few days before then finalising things, and so it makes sense to go to this event and meet the fans.

'He wants to speak directly with supporters as much as possible. There will be something similar organized in Portsmouth for fans to hear from him directly, probably around that time as well.'

It was also said that monthly meetings will continue to take place to ensure Pompey does not become 'too detached from the fans' as happens with other clubs with it being 'his view is that the fans know more about the club than anyone else, so he wants to have a constant dialogue with them.'

We are getting there though as apparently 'the key things, issues that could hold this up, have now been sorted' but 'there's a lot of paper work to get through' however 'the focus behind the scenes is now very much on how to take the club forward both on and off the pitch' now.

So, we are hopefully getting ever closer!

Sounds like the real deal to me Rug. It's really positive concerning the fans which has got to be a good thing. Brilliant...

That staring to look promising then, good to see a date being hinted rather than just sometime in July. Maybe then we can get some positive PR going and get the press of our backs and let us get on with preparing for what hopefully is going to be a succesful new begining

The 11th is 2 weeks on Saturday for those without a calandar. If the deal is to be wrapped up a 'few' days before that would perhaps suggest 3 or 4, so maybe we should have a 2 week count down from today!

Certainly is good news but would still like to see a manager or at least one new signing then I will believe that the deal is done and its just the red tape to sort out

Good news hopefully. While its good to have dialogue with the fans I can't see monthly meetings being practical. Look at all the disparate views on here from fans. You can't run the club 'by committee' it just won't work. In this day and age the club needs to be business like and that will surely drive any decisions made ?! PUP

the basic outlines that most of us have that we want, stadium, training ground, stability, building on the youth side of things, buying and keeping players isnt much to ask is it and this seems to be what he wants to offer too anyway...

Within two weeks was quoted today, so Southport the 6th is only two days inside so you could be right, on the 11th the doctor will reveal his plans to the supporters, as Rug has said, rumours will leak I'm sure!

Re Crouch/Hermann staying- it seems we certainly have a squad of: James, Begovic, Hreidarsson, Kaboul, Belhadj, Hughes, Cranie, Wilson, Mullins, Kranjcar, Nugent, Crouch, Utaka and maybe Distin, Sol, Ashdown (Mokoena?) Hm . . We really do need to sign a few more class players don't we!
