Mass exodus? Yeh right!

A 'mass exodus' from Pompey is only a mass exodus in terms of numbers, those, on the whole actually leaving Fratton for good will leave without any real pain, this will be minimal!

Good riddance to bad rubbish is what we need to say about most!

If anything, with the vast majority, we should be jumping with joy to see these 'freeloaders' finally cut loose from the wage bill as too many of these 'wage grabbers' have been 'leeching' money from us for too long and had offered little, or nothing, to Pompey last season and for some an even longer period of time!

Obviously losing Glen Johnson will be a bitter blow, but lets be honest we have been braced for this for sometime - so as much as I, along with everyone of you, would have rather kept him he is a player that has the quality to move on, and at the money offered we could not really say no either could we?

We will be looking to put measures in place in the future to prevent this kind of thing in the future - and if we do things right we will not only bring in these top players but will be in a position to also keep them.

From those out of contract, the ones that we wanted to keep - the younger ones - have been dealt in already. Senior players we want to keep have been offered deals so it is up to them to accept.

If Sol, The Herminator and Kanu want to join Linvoy in committing, even if this is done so on reduced terms, fantastic, if not then that is their call and we then cross that bridge when we come to it.

But do not be fooled by what the media tells you about the 'implication' of so many players leaving, we will not miss many, maybe any of them that have been confirmed as going - of course Davis will be a miss but if he wants to go so be it, Pennant might have been nice but it was not to be.

I know that I would rather we had kids come through from the youth and reserve sides to fill their void as these going were wastes of space on the whole anyway, at least these kids will be eager to play and not just suck blood, well money - you get the point, from the club!

Once our takeover is complete, and it will be complete, we will see some actions and positive ones - just do not expect multi million pound players ;-)

my problem, is I look at our midfield, and I have a panic attack! (no right winger, mullins, diop and hughes in the centre, and no left winger (unless you count kranjcar...)!

and our defence doesn't make much better viewing either! cranie - who whilst he could come good, and possibly was before he broke his leg, spent the first half of last season on loan at charlton (with linvoy) - they had the worst defence in the championship. sylvain - if he stays - was hardley the model of consistency last season, and is only getting older. Herman could stay - but he's no spring chicken either. And belhadj... not the most acomplished defender in the premiership is he?
pompeycarpet
...but at least our centre forwards are ok. We have crouch, and utaka, kranjcar, nugent and kanu to play alongside him. yet in may peoples eyes, we still need a centre forward to come in.
pompeycarpet
...talking of centre forwards... do you think we should perhaps try to make a move for frazer campbel?
pompeycarpet
fear not carpet - like i say look at names going, thomas, little, pamarot, traore, duffy, lauren, what did they really contribute last season, besides taking money from the wage bill...
pele, gekas and pennant have also gone after loans, the latter would have been nice but the others didnt even play, well bar a few seconds for gekas...
davis is a miss, but we will replace him, mullins, hughesie, diop, basinas and mvuemba doesnt look alot in the middle of the park but if we had to settle for that we would - we will be ok... trust me :-)

Rug, yes most of those mentioned above are natural wastage. Apparently that leaves us a squad of 23 players which includes a number of fringe players...I guess we'll pull out of the reserves league next?
bluedr
how many of the youth players were also playing reserve team football aswell last season tho - in a worst case scenario we will do that again i guess, altho i also expect some of those young reserves to step-up a notch anyway, and did with or without a takeover.
pompeyrug
You're a braver man than me Rug. When I look at that midfield I don't panic but am worried. Maybe if Papa is back in the loop along with Basinas it eases the situation. Arnold still has a lot to prove, in other words he's unproven. The midfield we were using at the latter end of last season spent more time back passing than aiding our attack. So much so that I thought I was watching rugby passing at times rather than football. As for the dross, well yeah...we'll be well shot and it'll lighten the wage bill. No worries there.
cornypomp
i might just be stupid and not brave tho :-)

I would definately add Matt Ritchie to the squad/team next season, I think he's one to watch. PUP

Hopefully once all the DD's done and dusted there'll be a mass influx of players! In the meantime DJIMI TRAORE'S GONE!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!
