'If It's Football, It's Vital'

I fancy our chances...perhaps!

For reasons already mentioned, you know the greed that runs the game meaning we cannot publish fixtures here, I cannot reel off the first dozen or so games that Pompey play in the 2009/10 season, but when you do look at them they are not bad at all are they!

Once we get the ownership issues sorted out, appoint a manager and actually know which of our playing staff we will be retaining and who else we are going to bring in we potentially have a chance to get off to a very good start to the season - in theory anyway...

Apart from one meeting with one of the 'big 4' very early on we do not then have another until the end of November, and they will be minus a certain winker! December looks a tough month though.

All in all, having viewed the fixtures, as we of course would have, we must be pretty optimistic - assuming we can sort out the 'small matters' previously mentioned, and sooner rather than later...

Yes, it does look like a good start. BUT, my only concern is that we won't have time to bring in enough quality players for the first few games. If we start the season playing a midfield of mullins and hughes, we will be in trouble.

clearly we need players to come in, and we need them involved in pre-season to get some time to know each other and gel as a side - i know they are professionals but you cannot just throw them together and hope for the best...
i would be amazed if we have not been able to do some work on the squad by the time august 15th comes round tho - and only, not that it bares thinking of, Dr SAF's deal going through will we be up ***** creek!

Well, I think we have tough games & our predicament will make it tougher. We have no idea who are starting 11 will be? Fulham will come here on a high, have a very settled & organised team. Birmingham will fancy their chances in their first home match. Then the classy Arsenal away & a Man City with heaven knows who they have signed by then! Mr Panic is back in town!

do not let mr panic take over again matt - patience for a few weeks more.
'if' we get towards the end of july with nothing known then i think mr panic could, and maybe should, be back in town...as the moment i would think its best to leave him in a neighbouring village for the moment...

Same thoughts as you guys really. The thing is, in theory it looks like a good start, but as we all know their just ain't any pushovers in the EPL. The sooner this takeover is done and dusted (hopefully) the better for PFC as a whole. We desperately need some sort of pre-season/stability, who's coming and going, plus a MANAGER. I for one will certainly be panicking if we get to the end of July and things are still up in the air. All part of being a Pompey fan I know, but bloody hell the stress is killing me. I'm checking all the Arabian sites every day for snippets of information. I'm probably my own worst enemy.

I am sure that a new manager will get his players immediatley with the right funds. We are in a new era aren't we? Sow hy are we mentioning Mullins??? in reserves maybe! and Hughes can sit on the bench: no problem!
Pompey Malta
I agree with Matt, not as easy start as it looks. Lets hope we get this takeover sorted out and start building for the new season during July. Otherwise Mr Panic will be ringing the bells.
