Questions need answering
Pompey should be entering a glorious new era, yet the stability surrounding the club seems more uncertain than it was before any takeover talks - ok, maybe not less uncertain, but the futures of players that were expected to be retained to enable the club to 'stabilise' does not seem to be happening...
We have admitted that we will let Glen Johnson go if the price is right, and now Peter Crouch is today quoted in The News of the World as having serious 'doubts' about the direction that the club is taking, putting question marks once again beside his name and a future with us: 'I'm really disappointed. We had Harry, we had Jermain Defoe and Lassana Diarra, we were in Europe and there were ambitions for the club going forward. Instead it has taken a backward step.
'We need to sign some players without a doubt. That's plain to see. Every Portsmouth player wants to find out what is going on.
'Hopefully, things can turn around with new owners. We need to strengthen the side. But I've no idea about the new owners.'
It does not exactly make for pretty reading does it, and this is just a 'sample'.
Should another big name be allowed to leave, as seems inevitable now with Johno, then I cannot see Crouchy being that far behind to be honest...
To be fair to the guy I can see where he is coming from as I am feeling somewhat the same...I thought, if not expected, this takeover to create stability and cut out the uncertainty. But deciding to allow yet another of our best players to go is not exactly painting a positive painting for the future is it?
That said, airing grievances in public is not exactly a trait that would sit well with some fans is it!
Then again, with that also said, us fans are able to do this all the time and despite the fact that the players get paid a kings fortune to play the game they too have rights do they not? They also want answers like we do - but they do not appear to be getting this so decide to go public, right or wrong...
I still cannot get my head round why we have decided to make it public knowledge that we are happy to let Johnson go at this point in time, this is clearly going to create even more uncertainty and discontent among the players, and lead more to think along the lines of Crouch - it is almost as if we want the players to go or something!
The sooner the takeover is complete the better, and it will be complete, but we need to start answering more questions instead of creating more questions to then be asked, which are not being answered anyway... By not putting all deals on hold until the takeover goes through is creating so many more!

The thing is Rug, as you pointed out in your open letter about the sale of Johnson, the timing and way this is being done is diabolicle. We have opened ourselves up to yet more press speculation and S###e stirring. Crouchies complaints coming as they have are just not like the man we know. What the hell is going on???

to true rug. crouchie has every right to be concerned. i am concerned. this whole take over is dragging. no one seems to know when it will be finalised, papers have started troughing doubts around, and now with the sale of our best player, really brings into doubt what the clubs plans are. but then other questions are raised. whats happenes with the take over? why is going to take so long. if it was always going to take this long why announce it when they did. even if this isnt communicated to the fan it has to be given to the players.

I'm not buying this. I think this is either a complete fabrication by the scum media, or they've twisted Crouchy's words, probably from something like 'I was dissapointed that we took a backward step' to 'rawr I hate this club and I'm gonna move'. I actually really am (don't laugh at this) of sending in a photo of me, in my pompey shirt, burning one of the papers. Anyone care to join me in that? Sorry, but I had zero faith in the media to begin with, they've now made sure they'll never, EVER get me to part with my hard-earned on one of their glorified toilet-rolls.

It would be really pathetic now if the take over does not materialize. I hope for your sake that it does. Otherwize, this clown would have just wasted your precious time to avoid your club from collapsing and finding a new owner.

Pies - this is exactly what happens. You say one sentence which is as tame as possble and the press turn it into the story of the century which is as far away as possible from what you meant to say. It's tempting to just stop reading the press - it does you no good.

i feel let down by crouch and i dont by the fact that we can air our views on here but he cant, no, he can literally go and knock on the door, and ask them to their faces, instead he does the cowards way and talks to the press, like the ronaldos of this world, at possibly the worst possible time.

Come on ruffcider. What can Storrie tell him? No one knows anything until the dd has been completed and Dr Saf's takeover has been accepted by the Prem. The Press has a lot to answer for....

who is to say that crouchy hasnt tried doing this but got no answers, and like us his frustration has boiled over? albeit probably not to the degree of spin the media has put on it...

Storrie can tell him why johnsons for sale, and storrie can tell him far more than the press! come on, hes angry/disappointed johnsons been made public, but he can pick up a phone and phone someone, how can crouch think that shouting to the press is gonna help anything. i like crouch, ive got his name on my shirt, but imo, it seems he is blaming pompeys plight for his latest performance for england, which,as we all know, got mixed reviews. i dunno perhaps hes right, perhaps it is all pompeys fault hes not 'on song'. listen we couldnt help the recession, harry leggin it, defoe throwing his toys out and Real Madrid wanting diarra. we couldnt.i think it is massively inappropriate at this jucture. he should know better.

Don't know who is doing these deals all of a sudden, I guess Storrie, but why the hell don't we wait until Dr SAF comes in, unless we have already appointed a new Manager and he has got his own shopping list.

Something somewhere smells bad, Jophnson as good as said he was happy to stay and now it seems he's being edged out the door. Of course players are going to wonder whats going on when that happens, we're supposed to be in line for a massive cash injection and then we decide it's ok to sell one off if not our best player, got a horrible feeling about all this.

I have a theory as to why we are selling players that is not very pleasant. Storrie might be thinking that if the deal does not go through, we will have to sell our players. We won't get nearly as much after it is known the deal has fallen through (if the deal falls through) as other clubs will know we are desperate to sell. It could be Storrie is hedging his bets.

It could also be part of the overall plan. Who made the decsion that Hart was returning the the academy team without a new manager to replace him? Thought that was a little strange last week. Maybe part of the deal between Sasha and Dr Goatboy was if debt could be reduced meaning reducing the overall cost of the deal then Pompey had the green light to do so. SteveC says a "massive cash injection" all I have heard and read was slow, careful and considered investment.

I'm a little worried actually.if we sell johnson, I can't see crouch or kranjcar being that happy, and will probably want to leave to. That will leave us NEEDING a massive cash injection JUST TO STAY IN THE PREMIERSHIP.

I take you're point Teddylyon but until this deal goes through the club has a massive cash injection everytime someone pays an instalment on their season ticket.
