'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A move 'might' now be on?

The name Tranquillo Barnetta should not really be new to Pompey fans, well certainly fans of Vital Pompey for sure as we have often discussed the Swiss midfielder in the forums...

Anyway the 24-year-old, who is 'said' to have rejected a move to Fratton in January, has now told SI - some form of German or Swiss media outlet no doubt? - that he 'would like to play in the Premier League, the club is aware of that,' the club being Bayer Leverkusen - his current club.

He is not in a hurry to make any move though and seems prepared to explore every option put to him: 'I think a move to a different country would suit me fine. There are a few options, but it is not going to be a decision to be made at the end of today.

'I am looking forward to every proposal, I am very cool on those things.'

Clearly whoever does come in as our new manager might have a very different way of thinking on which players we do and do not sign, so 'links' to him in January could well mean nothing for this summer - although of course the scouting network that we have in place would, I assume, remain the same so chances are the Swiss international would again be put forward?

If Arsenal move on the 'interest' that was meant to have been shown in March then clearly you would expect him to go there, wouldn't you...

Another name previously strongly 'linked' with us in the past is Benfica's defender Luisao, and he too now says that a move to England appeals to him.

The Brazilian, who looks likely to leave the Portuguese club based on financial reasons - with them apparently needing to sell - is 'leaning' towards Citeh from the sounds of it with Robinho 'said' to have encouraged him to make the move to the premier league...

Chances are we will be 'linked' to both in the media, even if there is no basis to this, but I would be tempted to put more faith in Barnetta actually coming off - plenty seem pretty sure that we may well see the midfielder plying his trade at Fratton next season?

Time will tell I guess...

These names that keep coming up were linked to previous managers. I am certain a new manager will have his own wishlist and not get an old file out of the cupboard!!

Be good to buy Tranquillo Barnetta he seems like a good player. And now hopfuly with the new owner we can afford him, anyone know how much he is worth?

Oscar Cardozo from Benfica is one we really should be looking at. 30 goals in 55 starts for Benfica is something that should not be ignored!!

It is funny how all these plays suddenly have an intrest after it looks like we might get bought! Lets just sit back and wait to see what happens.

Lot's of big names, with big ego's that may not always settle straight away & gel with the players we keep. No doubt the new manager will have his wish list. Patience will be required!

Lots of potential players and potential managers; I suspect most of them can smell some money and are jumping on the bandwagon.

Barnetta is a op class player ive watched him a few times on setanta and he has been mom his crossing dead ball situaions are second from none i would really reccommend this bloke.Luisao would be a good replacement for distin same build , good in the air and very strong even scores a few headers would be worth a punt !! oscar cardoza is another one i have watched he is top class scores all types of goals and is defientley a goalscorer if we dont go for him i would go for portos lisandro lopez !!! Benfica not made champions league now for three seasons, may have to sell players due to finance so Cardoza, & Luisao could move, & Luisao want's to come to the prem, but Citeh are hot favourites
