'If It's Football, It's Vital'

At £10m you will convince no one of anything!

It is commonly believed, if not accepted, that Glen Johnson is leaving Pompey this summer - at least in media world! Although to be honest there seems to be far too much speculation now, and as the saying goes 'there is no smoke without fire'...

So, maybe this will be the case but I sure as hell know - or at least sure as hell hope - that The News of the Worlds 'claims' that Liverpool think they can 'convince' him to Anfield for a meagre £10m are a joke, like I say in the title 'at £10m you will convince no one of anything!'

£10m? Jog on; you will need to offer more! Then again if they can only afford to offer £4m for Peter Crouch then even that amount would be a push...

The thought is that the bin dippers think they can sign him ahead of Chelski because 'they can assure him of a 1st team spot' and his former side cannot, with it also hoped that his previous tenure with Chelski has 'put him off' a return.

'If' he goes, and maybe he will, as the thought that we feel his departure 'makes good business sense' might prove just that, but as gutted as I would be to see this I would be even more gutted to see him leave for anything less than £15m bare minimum - even if his showing for England yesterday did not do that much for him, then again who did play that well for us!

Another, again, 'linked' with a move away today is The Herminator - also in The News of the World with him, and also again, expressing a desire to do so.

He does want to wait and see who we appoint first so he can have 'a word with him and see what he's got to say' but the lure of Rangers and the champions league does appeal to the 34-year-old.

Guys off topic but on poll - Which manager would you like next at Fratton Park ? You could say Bilic because Croatian public is now officially really *****ed at him and we are ready to dump him ASAP. Reason ?? hmmm... a lot of them not just the loss against ENGLAND but the selection of players, we have much better players then these 11 who played last 2-3 games. Anyhow the last straw was yesterday's draw against Ukraine (tactics all wrong). So now if you read Bilic linked with pompey don't just say yeah right it could happen.

Scousers are known for the humour & lack of real cash. A fine example here. They don't have the dosh to back up their argument & are obviously taking the mick.

The offer for Crouch though in fairness, is only £4m as thats probably all we have paid for him at the moment. We had payements over 2 and a half years, which would be about right as he was £11m ??. Glad GJ looks as if he'll stay, perhaps they might come in with £10m offer for Mullins instead now ha ha.

We dont need Johnson! Keep him, lads!

10/6/09 Mirror, Johnson to quit Pompey for Champions league football to secure World cup place, favourites are Chelsea, liverpool, Spurs and City, \chelsea pretty much ruled out by Jonno, Liverpool skint, Spurs and City not in Europe!!
