Mancini wants to 'speak' about Pompey job?

Maurizio De Giorgis, the agent of Roberto Mancini, has 'claimed' that the Italian does want to hold talks with Pompey about the vacant managerial position but actually taking the job is not going to be an easy thing due to an ongoing dispute with his former club Inter...

Apparently he 'is still under contract at Inter' despite being replaced by the then, and current, Serie A champions! A contractual dispute is still ongoing and until this is resolved with Inter it would appear that he cannot take on another job?

Sunderland and Pompey are both clubs that would be spoken to 'if we were contacted' according to the agent and any club interested in England 'doesn't have to be one of the 'Fabulous Four' clubs, but it has to be a club with ambition and the desire to win something.'

Well if the Italian does want to speak to us then I suggest that he and his agent sort out the 'problems' that they have with Inter to free him up to do so - I would guess that they could have up to 3-weeks or so to do this, as our due diligence process could take that long, maybe, and quite possibly longer? Then again it could be much less and 'might' be completed this week, although I really, really doubt this.

No one really knows how long this will take, as I keep saying though patience is the key!

One thing that I would guess we do know is as soon as this due diligence is complete, and god willing this will be fine, we probably are not going to hang around too long in looking to appoint our new manager and there 'appears' to be no shortage of top candidates in the running, and I would imagine once Dr SAF's takeover is complete others may well lay their cards on the table as well...

If you analyse the words coming form Mancini's agent, it doesn't actually say or mean anything. All noise in my opinion.

Didn't his agent do something similar with Sunderland? Nothing in it yet I don't think.

Mancini, just get in line with everybody else. It's amazing how many managers suddenly become interested in lil ol Pompey as soon as it looks like we might have money to spend!

funny that eh sneakay.....

how good is his english? I would think/hope we will have a new manager by the time the transfer window opens, preferably a little before then, assuming Dr AlF does actually succeed in buying the club!

Nust have a Manager who speaks good English - that is essential. Most of Spurs pronbs with the last Manager was that he did not speak English. How can you motivate if no one can understand you?

So all of a sudden, everything Italian is the answer. Cappello, Zola, Ancelotti. Well may be but may be not. I still would prefer someone that has prem experience rather than someone who is looking at spending big & bringing in huge ego's.

The more you hear, the more Sven becomes a more attractive target (and I'm certainly no fan of his). Why would you bring in a guy like Mancini, who has no Premier League experience whatsoever ? At least Big Phil has a few games under his belt. Mancinii has shades of Ramos about him. I hope all these rumours are indeed cow dung.

I still maintain that Sven is our best bet, he has the experience, and he has the big name. Sven all the way, for me.

That was TA's problem, no-one could understand a word he was on about

Still think the Tinkermans a good bet. Raneri has good premiership experience at Chelsae -came 6th twice before the Russian millions and is available

Showing my ignorance, I don't know much about Mancini. If we do this in true Pompey style, it'll be someone that was completely off the radar and the press hadn't thought about. I've got another name to chuck in for amusement's sake . . . Ferguson (the younger).

For whatever reason I'm not keen on Sven but that's probably a personality thing with me. Mancini... I don't know enough to make an informed comment. Just the odd snippet I've read here and there. Ranieri appeals to me, he ticks all the boxes and from his interviews comes across as a really nice bloke..But what do I know??

svens the one i want, but mancini if we cant get him
