Crouch looking forward to an exciting future

Without actually committing his future to Pompey in as many words Peter Crouch basically seems to have done this with his 'things are changing at Portsmouth every day and it's exciting. I am looking forward to being a part of that' thoughts, among other things...

The England striker, who hopes to get the nod when England play Kazakhstan at the weekend, is hopeful that Pompey 'can go the same way' as Citeh and Chelski, who have both benefited from their own cash injections over the years.

All being well our future will be a bright one, the bright one that did seem was going to be possible anyway until we hit the brick wall that we did back along!

So, basically that is Niko Kranjcar and Crouch that have committed to us, for at least the next season, and these were a couple of our most prized assets, but assets that did seem most likely to move on this summer.

All we need now is for Glen Johnson to do the same and we are laughing, that and of course Dr SAF's takeover to be fully approved, a manager to come in and this manager to decide on the futures of our out of contract players and we then know exactly where we stand - the rest can then be built from there...

Crouch, Niko, Glen and James are our main players.. All we need is to build a team around them and be a better outfit for sure. Thank God, with the money we now have we can get rid of players who should be playing in league 2. No names, but everyone on this site knows who they are!

I would count Distin/Belhadj and Kaboul as must keeps as well. When he settled down, Distin was brilliant for us. Kaboul and Belhadj still haven't (imo) reached their full potential. Wouldn't want to sell them and then they come back and bite us on the backside.

we don't need much to happen then! By the way, who does articles at half eleven at night? Lol

if glen johnson stays, it would probably be the biggest signing Dr AlF could make (...right up there with man u signing ferdinand)

Chelsea sniffing out for Glen. Feel sorry for Crouchy as he obviously wants to be an England first choice but hasn't been given the opportunity by recent Pompey team choices to show what he is good at, apart from workrate

It is good news, although I have expressed my thoughts on Niko and Crouch both being in the team. A new manager though may have different ideas. Johnno is a must stay and hopefully Dr AlF will already know this. A supposed £12 mill bid from Chelsea is a bit cheeky really!

chelsea sold wayne bridge for 10million - and he was only a reserve left back (and he played for southampton. that's got to take at least 5 million off his price!)! GJ is much much better, and the best right back in england (just ask fab). if we were still in financial trouble... 20million might have been enough...

back to crouch, and Fabio likes to play with one main striker - and that is how we have been playing (admitidly, normally there is someone behind him [like kranjcar was before he was injured] ) - but crouch plays fabios favoured position, and he is playing better than his competition at the moment.

Some high quality service & PC will have a field day. Time to look after the good & get rid of the bad & ugly. Need a squad where you have to good to get on the bench!!!

Can't see why he is not ahead of Heskey, He's better & scores goals ?
pompeyyong
Yes he does, Yong, but because he spent the last part of the season playing the lone role that didn't suit him he didn't get many at the tail end of last season, and it may cost him as far as England are concerned - for now. Hopefully he'll get someone else upfront with him soon. SWP?

Good on Yah Crouchie, stick at it. If we can give him the support of a strike partner and some people in midfield who can actually deliver Crouchie will score. Although he tried his best up on his own, he just hasn't got the pace to be effective in that role.
