A 'source' makes Crouch and Johnson claims

A 'source' makes Crouch and Johnson claims

According to a 'so-call source' to The Mail a claim has been made that Peter Crouch and Glen Johnson have both said that they would be willing to stay with Pompey if 'assurances' can be made to them over our future plans: 'both players are ambitious. They enjoy playing for Portsmouth and enjoy their life on the coast so if the new owners are to invest and put together a really good team, they may be tempted to stay. Otherwise, both boys know there is interest from other clubs out there.'

I do not think that it is a secret, or a surprise, that both would want to stay if they could - the only fear that I have ever had for them going was them going because they had to go, we needed to sell.

As it now looks we 'should not' have any need for this...

It is also 'reported', in the same mail online piece, that Johnson is/was ready to join Spurs with Crouch off to Villa or Everton if we decided to sell.

I think the thing that we really have to bare in mind is, this deal could take some time to go through so knee-jerk reactions on so many areas are things that should be guarded against, and I am sure they will, as I am also sure the England internationals will take their time before deciding what to do - all signs point to 'why would they want to leave' though, so fingers crossed!

Money talks, if we have some they will stay no doubt

Well, several articles have started to appear now questioning the good doctors financial situation_ sound familiar? didn't they do the same with Sascha. Whatever the case we gotta be in a better position than we were. Lets hope it all works out great and the sunday mail are just scandal mongering.

of all the things the mail has made up about pompey over the past year, this one sounds most realistic...
30/05/2009 22:20:00
Yes but they just can't help themselves by having a dig.
30/05/2009 23:30:00
It also sounds the most optomisic, Carpet! Having said that, the Guardian has made the most contradictory 'report' ever about how Hydra properties, one of Al Fahim's main companies, is apparently running a 'ponzi'(?) scheme and is actually facing financial turmoil. In the same article, Al Fahim has been quoted as saying Hydra 'has no link with Portsmouth', so it's none of our business, and not our problem. When will these journo's learn?

I've always thought that The Mail was probably the most pro pompey of all the rags on the market. However, thanks to the internet, I don't have worry about all that any more

I've seen Citeh fans saying that Al Fahim is not as rich as their owners - who cares. We don't want a silly "I am considerably richer than yaaoow" argument anyway. We just want an owner who can take our club forward instead of into the abyss we were staring at, and it seems that The Doc is that owner. I can't see Johnson and Crouch moving on now, but we've all got to wait until the deals gone through and the manager's appointed. Nobody's going in or out the club in the meantime. It's nice to read that this or that other manager wants one of our players now, without it filling me with dread.

Just zone out all the "what if" stuff and chill until 10am, 17 June when we find out exactly when the home game with Spuds is going to be. Boxing Day???

Let's hope so. without doubt 2 top players that we want to keep & hopefully add a lot more quality to the team & push for more success. Very little loyalty in football & I'm very much hoping they will stay.
