'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The FA cup is officially passed...

Pompey's claim of being FA cup holders official ended this afternoon when the cup that 'we' won a little over 12-months ago was passed onto Chelski, who beat Everton 2-1.

None of us will ever forget the day when 'Portsmouth Football Club' won the FA cup, 'when Sol went up to lift the FA cup' and all that...hopefully we can all have a chance to again see us achieve such a feat in the future?

Congratulations to Chelski, commiserations to Everton, but our claim to fame of the only club outside of 'the big 4' to win the FA cup since Everton back in 1995 remains...

Ha! Chelsea not even having a open top bus parade as they can't afford it! Come on Abramovich, do the fans a favour you tight fisted plutocrat!
we'll look after it for you lads! What's that dent in it though - who did that?
are they really not having an open top parade? i think wolves didnt have one when they won the championship title because of 'health and safety' rules? is that right?

the dent was put in it by e.on merlin, despite what the 'media' might tell you, it wasnt us that caused major damage to it...
VitalChelsea say that the club is unwilling to stump up 250k for the parade
is that right... well i find that criminal tbh!
to be fair, having an open top bus ride in portsmouth is cheaper than in london... and for them, it'll probably happen again in a couple of years time.
...actually, come to think of it, it's probably so they don't drop it from the top of a bus again :-). Look after it for us merlin, we'll want it back next year!
dont you feel it 'devalues' the cup, the best cup competition in the world, slightly tho carpet?
and also denys fans that were unable to see the cup won at wembley the chance to have a really feel for the event?
It's on loan that's all, we want it back & we want it back soon. Watched the match with a heavy heart & my mind rolling back to our 'greatest football day'.
It shows how far I've come, not feeling absolutely gutted. Congrastulations to Chelsea, Pompey will be back next year.
same lemmi - I don't feel gutted. more honoured to have been there last year!
I was thinking about the day, the train up, breakfast, walking across Waterloo Bridge and the bus drivers cheering us on. We had a great day, went for a meal in London afterwards. The only crap bit was on the way home with a bunch of drunk w**k**s lying on the floor of the train and threating anyone who tried to get past with violence. Still karma will come to them too.
oh yes... fond memories indeed. Get up early, arrive in london, text chix to pick up my T-shirt (he STILL hasn't replied...), meet up with friend (who STILL has no idea how I got a ticket [thanks gandor])... forget to have lunch, forget to buy a program (god I hate myself for that), decide not to buy a flag (also regretable), enter stadium, have my bottle of water taken off me (god I was thick), stand up, aplaud linvoy in his suit, watch drummers and pyrotechnicks, listen to "abide with me", endure welsh national anthemn (I didn't boo, it would have been lowering myself to there level), sing OUR National anthemn, sing "god save the queen"... then it goes a bit hazy... watch kanu get the ball into the net, start celebrating, stop celbrating, as I'm confused by his celebrations... then start celbrating again, nod approvingly at the ref for dissalowing cardifs goal, game ends, 10...9...8...7.. LETS ALL HAVE A DISCO, cheer sol lifting the cup, cheer linvoy lifting the cup, cheer just about everyone lifting the cup, cheer sasha parading the cup, continue celebrating, leave wembley (eventually), find my way blocked by thousands of people, and a few men on horses, have a sing off with cardif fans as we wait, cram into tube train, get to waterloo, get asked who won, realise I can;t speak anymore, get the train home, get asked who won again (really, how out of touch were these guys?!), confirm I cant speak... then it goes hazy again.
phew... I think I think thats most of the key points...
Carpet if you want a programme I'm sure I've got one you can have, just PM me to let me know where you want it sent.
Love your May 17 memories carpet. For me it was seeing three generations of my family at Wembley. After years of dreaming (in vain) of seeing the Blues there, even for something as rubbish as the Simod Cup, to see them at Wembley 3 times in 5 months - who could believe it?! Enjoyed memories when watching Chelski win yesterday - but here's a strange thing - the attendance. Despite having the two 'Top 5' teams the 'ring of indifference' as I have heard the middle tier referred to was still not full. Here's the attendances for the 3 cup finals at the New Wembley: 2007 Chelski/Man U - 89826 2008 Pompey/Cardiff - 89874 2009 Chelski/Everton - 89391 Where were the missing 500?? Or is that Pompey and Cardiff fans really cared to get the very last ticket available??

Just 378 days this time last time we won it we held it for ..... a lot longer. Good memories for carpet et al.
it was 2555 days the previous time..
Do you know I read the headline and thought someone must have swallowed it....
