Pompey’s last six games will all be at home.
Once again Saturday Pompey fans were outstanding. The Fulham game saw 4,400 fans sing Portsmouth on to victory. I was there when Harry’s name was sung for the first time since his return and Saturday saw Harry’s name sung for the second time.
We have Arsenal on Wednesday who have a tuff game against Man United today. IF Henry was to get injured (not serious, dead leg will do) then Pompey may only concede a few against them. Prediction 1-3
We will then see Yakubu the Saturday after as we face Middlesbrough in what I’m willing to put money on a high scoring game. Benjani’s power and Lua Lua’s pace is likely to cause the old Middlesbrough defenders some trouble. Prediction 3-2
We then travel to Charlton which will become a home game as 4,000 Pompey fans will travel to the Charlton loosing midfielders Danny Murphy and Alexi Smertin. Saying this however Pompey’s defence doesn’t fill me with confidence and coming up against Darren Bent will be a real test. Prediction 1-2. I think that Charlton’s solid defence and our tiredness will see Charlton through.
Sunderland is going to be such a crucial game as I’m worried we will take it for granted. Sunderland having nothing to play for apart from beating there own record of the lowest point score in the Premiership. Prediction 1-1 it doesn’t sound like a good result but I’m worried we won’t be up for it.
We will then go away to Wigan in a crucial away game where 5,000 tickets have already been bought! This is expected to rise to 5,500 in what is going to be a defining atmosphere. Who knows we may even have a pitch invasion at an away game. How amazing would that be? Prediction 1-4 I can see the Pompey fans winning this game for us.
The last game is at home to Liverpool which could be amazing. I’m hoping that, no correction, I’m praying that Liverpool have nothing to play for by then. If we need to win I think we will. Prediction 2-1, late goal from Lua Lua.
If my predictions are correct it would leave us with 38 points. Would this be enough to keep us up? Will Yakubu be cheered or booed? Are you going to Wigan and Charlton? Are my predictions wrong? Let me know.
Last Tuesday saw the first ever Pompey Night. It was a big success with just under 200 posts with the hour. I also handed out a reward for my favourite post which saw Nelson win a Portsmouth Calendar (Next Years).
Pompey Night is Tuesday between 9 and 10 and covers all the Pompey issues over the last week. Register or log in next Tuesday at nine, go to the forum click on Pompey Night and join in and possible win prizes.
Also like to use this opportunity to congratulate pompeygray for winning the top Vital user for March. I understand he has won lots of prizes for coming first so well done and keep contributing!
