'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Al Fahim speaks

Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim, I think we need to find a shorter name for him, we have 'Sacha', so maybe something like 'Doc' or 'Sully' should be used - what do we think?

Anyway, back to the point our owner in waiting has sent us a message, I am not sure if he was talking direct to The News, or they just quote him, but this is what he said: 'everything I have seen makes me sure that we can build a great football club in the years to come.

'Portsmouth has incredible history, and its fans are some of the most loyal in the world of football.

'I look forward not just to working with them, but listening to their views on how they want to take the club forward.

'I am the investor, but this is their club and their community - and it is a privilege to be taking charge.'

All good words, and very promising to hear his thoughts that he wants to 'listen to the fans' and seek advice from us as this is 'our club'.

We all have ideas as to what we want and hope the future can bring so forums such as ours, and of course ours others, along with various supporters clubs groups are the way forward - gaining the views and thoughts of such networks and groups can only help...

Not sure about pet names, don't want to offend the wonderful man. No doubt there are some good ways to show our gratitude. We all hope for great things but everything in good time.

no, maybe your right rug... However I felt the whole interview was fairly reasuring... particually as it made me think he had more money at his disposal than I thought he did this morning when plymouthgraham was saying his value was only £300million...

I'm liking what I'm hearing. If this is the way he's going to go, he won't make the mistakes that were made after the City buyout. A lot of the talk that was doing the rounds then was pure bilge. Consolidation, stability with some expectations thrown in...MAGIC>>

Carpet is right, I have been on the UAE business sites, what he says to them is the thing to note; it will be more accurate and it will affect his reputation

This is Pompey we're talking about. Expect the unexpected until the deal is done. I have no doubt that his heart is in the right place and he believes what he says. What concerns me is that financial due diligence has, apparently, not been undertaken yet.

there is always that doubt tony, and expecting the unexpected with pompey is true, but ive tried to keep that doubt to the back of mind mind... this cannot fall through now, surely...

Agree with others on here. where english people may find a nickname endearing, not everyone does. Sacha already had his nickname, we adopted it. Lets not upset him we should sit and wait to see if he already has a nickname and use that. I wonder if he build a bigger tower to pop westwood in. lol

Re: nicknames - perhaps he'll start checking out Vital Pompey. Wonder what username he'll choose!?! And Midge - although I agree that some people don't like nicknames I'm sure no one could be offended by something like 'Doc' or 'Dr'. It could be a bit crass to start calling him 'Money Bags' though!

If he's gonna develop links between Pompey and the Middle East/Asia, the pre-season tours are gonna be a bit more expensive than nipping down to Bournemouth and Exeter. But I ain't complaining...

I just hope he does not go down the Mike Ashley @I will listen to the fans' road. All football supporters are so fickle that I would hate to think that a few voices could decide a signing, or a termination.

ive not read arabian new you are talking about but if he is richer than the £311m quoted then great and will invest heavily onthe ground and players. Ive got a gig old Pompey hat that i will happily eat

Let's take this slowly. Get all the i's & t's sorted. Appoint a new manager who can quickly sort the squad out. Get those in we want, out we don't & keep those we want. The ground, academy etc, will take a bit longer.

He's the 4th richest arab apparently. It will be his personal investment - not backed by a bank or a business. To put it in context, it is rumoured that he bid for Chelsea a year ago. He is also quoted as saying he'd like to buy a Premier League club and have Maradona as chairman!

I agree. People who have doctorates generally get annoyed when you DON'T call them Doc so "The Doc" will do for me. Tommy Docherty is too old to sue us.

I'm sure an accepted nickname for him will emerge before long. I really like his words about listening to the fans. Just hope we take things slowly and don't go at buying players like a bull at a gate. Lets just build and take the club forward.

up I wander if ...CARLOS TEVEZ, will be a Pompey player soon. Man Utd will not pay the £25m, he did not return to England with the squad, and Kia will take anyone’s cash...its just a thought, as it would send a signal out of intent to future targets just like Robiniho deal did for Citeh, and with the possibility of Mr Maradona having some influence/part of the set I could easily see this happening

Interesting ending when he said "Leave now, I need to be at one with my goats." So maybe the nickname should be Goatboy.
