England call on Crouch and Johnson

England call on Crouch and Johnson

Peter Crouch and Glen Johnson have again been called up to the England squad for the world cup qualifiers with Kazakhstan and Andorra, the first of which is in Kazakhstan a week Saturday.

Obviously David James' should injury means he misses out so Paul Robinson has been recalled to the squad, which also sees Gary Neville make the surprise return!

Carson (West Brom), Green (West Ham), Robinson (Blackburn)

Bridge (Man City), A. Cole (Chelsea), Ferdinand (Man Utd), Johnson (Pompey), Lescott (Everton), G. Neville (Man Utd), Terry (Chelsea), Upson (West Ham); Barry (Aston Villa), Beckham (AC Milan, on loan from LA Galaxy), Carrick (Man Utd), Gerrard (Liverpool), Lampard (Chelsea), Walcott (Arsenal), Wright-Phillips (Man City), Young (Aston Villa)

C. Cole (West Ham), Crouch (Pompey), Defoe (Tottenham), Heskey (Aston Villa), Rooney (Man Utd)

Could this be the final time that the pair are called up for England duty as Pompey players...

yep, crouch is so 'crap' - as some guys behind me at wigan repeatedly reminded me yesterday, as have so many people around me this season home and away, which still baffles me! - that he is called up for england again!
my, my, capello clearly does not know what he is doing then eh...

honestly dave, it really annoyed me - and i mean really, annoyed me to the point that i wrote something on the train home this morning that i will publish here, or in the forum... ive never turned around and, not had a go, but seriously questioned the tripe being spouted, but came very close to it on sunday.

I am glad that Crouch has been called up in spite of being shoved up front on his own and not being able to score. This has to bode well in his decision making to stay or leave Pompey.

Wow, how on earth did Carson get in there? Carson is so good, that he got replaced by Pompey old boy Kiely at WBA! Should be Joe Lewis there, not Carson! Good to see Crouch & Johnson getting their call-ups. Crouch & Defoe up front once more...

Third time lucky? Nope as O'Shea interest ends

O'Shea saw a couple of bids for him put in; these were turned down by Chesterfield. A third bid hasn't come from Pompey and it isn't going to either.

Topping last seasons tally the aim

78pts was only enough for a play-off place last season so you suspect we'll have to better that for a top 3 finish this coming season, which begins with Carlisle at Fratton.
