'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Vital Pompey Player of the Year is...

Surprise, surprise Glen Johnson!

This was a no brainer really, there was only ever going to be one serious winner of this - ok, there might have been one or two candidates but the right back was the clear favourite and front runner all the way...

Johnson has been a rock for Pompey this season, I think you only have to look at the stat that I think we have not won a league game in which he has not started - in fact I think we might have lost the lot?

His consistent form and his fantastic ability, with this ability getting better all the time, has made him a regular in the England squad with him now looking like he has made the right back spot his own.

In all honesty I am expecting him to leave this summer but 'if' we can get that new owner in, and the noises that I am hearing are 'pretty good', then we 'might' stand a decent chance of keeping him for at least another season - as we could most, if not all of our most prized assets... As I say, I do expect him to go, but this for me would be more out of necessity as opposed to choice from him - if he was not happy here why would he have signed a new 4-year contract in January?

These are the thoughts that were shared about him in the forum poll voting...

PompeyFcMad: 'Glen Johnson all the way. He's been a great player this season.'

powered_by_pies: 'Has to be Johnno - I seriously hope we somehow manage to keep him through the summer, but I wouldn't blame him for wanting a move to a bigger club.

My question is, why haven't we got a song for him?'

Lemmi: 'Glen for me. Pies we do have a song it involves toilet seats and B & Q.'

Chix: 'Johnson gets my vote too and just for Pies....

There's on-ly onnnnnnne Glen Johnson
...onnnnnnne Glen Johnson
With a toilet seat, from B&Q
Johnson is England's no2 !'

There were not too many votes on this one but then again there did not need to be, as like I say we all knew this beyond a shadow of a doubt anyway who was going to win this but to see how this voting went click here.

The player of the year always seems to up sticks soon after the award; no change this time either, methinks

Excellent player. Will he stay at Pompey or will a top four club (other than Chelsea) go for him?
