Match day live - Special!

As a 'one off' special Vital Pompey is running this 'match day live special', so however you follow this afternoons crucial games - and our safety could be confirmed before a ball is even kicked on Monday - share your thoughts with us right here.

Bolton v Hull
Newcastle v Fulham

These 2 games are games that we will be following very closely this afternoon - defeat for either, ideally both, and we are safe - both avoiding defeat with victory for one, or both, and we are up to our necks in it and the pressure valve is really cranked up ahead of Sunderland's visit to Fratton on Monday...

However you are keeping up with events - why not make a few comments below as the day and afternoon unfolds.

So guys, share these thoughts...

come on fulham!
I'll be around on and off .. As said in one of the forums it'll good to see Matty Taylor or Andy O'Brienpop a winner in for Bolton and Diomansy Kamara do the same for Fulham.. Pompey old boys keep us up !
Think I will just hide somewhere and pray that we can party tonight.
I think Hull will get a result at Bolton but Fulham will beat the Toon as they have european football to play for, plus they owe us for keeping them up last season!
Yeah that's a good point and I hope you are right moley and welcome to Vital Pompey by th way
big day and im going to be away from the computer for most of it, 'should' be able to keep up to date where i am tho - fingers crossed!
keep your thoughts coming throughout the day/aternoon tho guys - have your say :-)
Nervous week-end awaits. No further comment except that I hope that either Hull or Newcastle loses.
Well they have kicked off at the other end of the table
15 minutes in and it's Man Utd 0 Arsenal 0 If it stays like that the title goes to the Manx for the third year on the trot .. That's impressive... Has it ever been done before ?
Still in the middle of moving my stuff from scum via the tip, via storage to my new home in Pompey! I may not get much chance today. Fingers crosssd that at least one of them fcks up.
Over at Old Trafford they have kicked off for the second half - Score is still Man Utd 0-0 Arsenal I suppose we want Arsenal to score/win as it would mean United would have to get at least a point at Hull ... Come on the Gunners
should arsenal win, then the Hull-united game could shape up to be a classic (or a bore draw) with both sides needing a result to secure survival or win the premiership. In a way, it's a shame wigan couldn't hold out for a draw isn't it!
Man Utd 0-0 Arsenal
Well United are Champions

Five minutes to kick-off...

0-0 Newcastle v Fulham

0-0 Bolton v Hull City

0-0 Middlesboro v Aston Villa

0-0 Spurs v Man City

0-0 Stoke v Wigan

0-0 Everton v West Ham

I hope we have a colourful afternoon
Very pretty Chix!
Well we have our first goal of the afternoon

1-0 Middlesboro v Aston Villa

Luckily it doesn't affect us !
If any of the struggling sides win, I hope its Boro. Got Hull match on computer and Newcastle on radio. No goals yet but Matty just put one of his freekicks over the bar
Hull and Newcastle on-line, where you watching Newcastle, my stream is *****e.
Bolton scored yay!
Get in !

1-0 Bolton v Hull City

Let's just hope it stays like that !
MFFP I'm watching the Hull not Newcastle, but we have to be careful or we'll get the site into trouble - Hull have just had a couple of good chances.
Listening to the Newcastle match on radio 5 (quite legal!) and the home fans are doing their whistling when Fulham have the ball - which is quite a lot. Like they did for us, negative bunch that they are.
Head injury to Newcastle keeper.
Newc 0 Fulham 1 - boos all around St James park
Just as Eastneydave predicted Kamara scores !

0-1 Newcastle v Fulham

We are staying up said we are staying up.. I hope
Excellent, come on Fulham, come on Bolton!!
Half Times..

0-1 Newcastle v Fulham

1-0 Bolton v Hull City

1-0 Middlesboro v Aston Villa

1-0 Spurs v Man City

0-0 Stoke v Wigan

1-1 Everton v West Ham

But something tells me those scores are not going to stay the same..
They wont stay the same but can you really both of them pulling it round? Not sure that either of them will tbh.
presumably that is just a general trend that it is very rair for 12 teams all to fail to score in the second half? ... But those scores are very comforting! come on boro and fulham!
liverpools title hopes over - they have nothing to play for anymore. westbrom to win?
I'm hoping the scores don;t remain the same, 2-0 to Bolton, 3-0 to Fulham, 2-1 to Man City, 2-1 to Everton. Should make for an interesting last day especially if Boro win ans WBA tomorrow.
Newc goal disallowed - teehee
Nooo Hull scored, poor defending
NOOO Hull have scored
Still OK .. All the time Newcastle are losing we are still safe.. We only need one of them to lose .. Anybody got any finger nails left ?
Th eHull games running late after a big injury, and Newc have Bason sent off.
Newcastle down to 10 men!
10 men can sometimes be better though Tracy.. I hope not in this case Come on Fulham..
Hull are sounding like they might nick it.
OOh Fulham almost score - -corner
Lemmi its quite an open game, either Hull or Bolton could nick it. Bolton nearly scored from a corner just now.
And Hull hit the post, and Matty straight at keeper. I want Fulham to score again!!!
Into the last 15 and at the mo we are safe .. Come on Fulham.. or Bolton .. A Matty Taylor special anybody ?

0-1 Newcastle v Fulham

1-1 Bolton v Hull City

1-1 Middlesboro v Aston Villa

1-1 Spurs v Man City

1-0 Stoke v Wigan

2-1 Everton v West Ham

Thought Newcastle scored then, but they didn't - phew!
Barcodes just missed, cleared off the line
Hull had an amazing chance to score and they fluffed it
Jaaskalainen saves Hyvaaa Suomi!!
Jussi's keeping them in it, Hull are peppering the goal at the moment. Barcodes fans are going home - just a few minutes to hold on now!
Ihannaa Jaaskalainen, oh I love the Finns
Afternoon lads & ladies. C'mon Fulham hang on there.
schwarzer save!
I quite like Aussies too! Good old Schwarzer
The irony is that we let Fulham stay up last season & if they beat Newcastle, they return that favour!
Oh Dempsey NOO
WE're Safe yesssssssssssssss
YYEAHHHHSSSS!!!!!!!!! They repaid us, we're safe!
Staying up for we are staying!!!!
The other irony is a year to the Saturday when we won the FA Cup. Close your eyes & tghink back.
We are staying up, said we are staying up
Matt .. I told you back in November, when I saw you in the chippy, there was nothing to worry about.. Now do you believe me ;)
Looks like Boro are down on goal difference at least
Jeez.. I need a drink !
Phew!!!!!.......We were never worried, were we?
Something about this time of year for celebrations, Matt. What different celebrations they are though.
So was Paul Hart right? Will be put on a display on Monday?
This is Hart's chance to win over the Pompey fans with a positive display on Monday - let's hope so!
Linvoy on Monday night, now we're safe? Or not.... Attack, on Monday night, now we're safe? Or not....
We are safe! 100%. Can't even go down on goal difference now, we could end up 4th bottom, but not in the relegation zone! We are points ahead of the ones who can go down. Good enough for me!
well done Paul Hart, you were given one job to do and you've done it. It may not have been done with the style we'd have liked but the end justifies the means.
Steve C
Now our future is assured i expect news on a takeover in the near future.
Steve C
When we first were promoted they said we would get three seaons in the Premier League: Autumn, Winter and Spring! Now we can look forward to our seventh top flight season. Well done Hart and Kidd for keeping us up! Oh, and Diomansy Kamara. Thanks mate! I can't wait for Monday night now!
Pompey Half Pint
Yes safety is a comfort zone, but I worry about next season. Perhaps the buyers will now come and do their shopping.
Oh Half Pint! That is funny! But I didn't realise this would be our seventh in the prem - we are so good!
Yes Chix as you said much earlier Kamara scores the goal that keeps Pompey up - as predicted by me!! In Chichester today and who did I meet Gandor who obviously got home before me.

Time to start celebrating.
right... so now we're safe, it's time to play some decent football, with our younger players, so we know what to expect for next season. right?
Agreed. Two games to go. If Hart wants the job and wants us to be happy with him getting the job, he needs to show it in those two games. There are no excuses left.
Won't be a better chance for Hart to prove his credentials with 2 games to show what style of football we could expect next season if he is appointed. Also, any would-be buyers in the wings would have the opportunity to see the potential of the current squad, and how they might fare not playing the defensive football they have been to stave of relegation. Go for it Hart, or go back to youth development role!
At last GOOD NEWS, well done to Fulham, and thank you, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE lets get it right for next year, WE ARE STAYING UP, WE ARE STAYING UP
we have two games to show-boat our skills, pursuade someone to buy us, and save our squad. lets role!
I am happy for us staying up, yet again, and I am very happy that most of you are thanking Paul and Brian.... They had a job and they have done that. Let us hope that on Monday we will kill off Sunderland and so we will be able to comment on the attacking game of Hart and Kidd. I am sure there is one!
Pompey Malta
nice match day live guys, sorry i couldnt be here, but family 'birthday' duty called...
chixy, i do not know about you 'telling matt so' in november, but ive been telling you for a while amidst you 'doom and gloom' :-) that we would stay up, and without even needing to do this ourselves!
rug - I never doubted we would stay up. the prospect of us going down this season never crossed my mind. next season though...
Carps - i doubted it the minute Adams was sacked.. Well we are up so that's that done
