'Niko Kranjcar will stay with Pompey this summer', not my vote, yours - although these findings from race's poll are thoughts that I do agree with to a degree...
Had Kranjcar not been injured against Bolton I feel it was a near 100% nailed on, dead cert that the Croatian would have left Pompey this summer...as it is, due to the fact he probably wont be fit until we start pre-season in July, I suspect that we may well still have him here next season, but would not expect him to be here the summer after...
With a year to go on his contract we would have been looking to cash-in on Kranjcar, as we would not want to lose him for nothing. The injury makes it less likely we will get what we would have and might not even sell at all - not until January anyway, by which time I suspect his value would be much less than it would have been this summer?
He was a 'saleable' asset, and for me an asset that I would have let go, and one that if he did/does could mean/could have meant we got to keep others - as you can see a lot in my mind depends on him going or not! But now I am not so sure he will and think others will go to compensate for this...
The best thing we can do in that case then I guess is to convince him to sign a new contract with us on the promise that we will let him go in January, or the summer of 2010, we at least cover ourselves price wise for him - that said it is a 'risky' game to play in tying someone down he might not be committed, and/or would be covered should something more serious happen - touch wood it did not. He may well also recover sooner, rather than later, so might go anyway?
Either way, if Kranjcar was still with Pompey at the start of the 2010/11 season I would be amazed...

'sweep the decks clean and get in players/bring through those that do want to play for the shirt and the club again... overpaid, undertrying mercenaries are not what are needed next season - and we wont get that either in the main as i suspect several already have their minds on their next move, well if saturday is anything to go by...
