Johnson and Johnson? Maybe just Johnson...
Although it is highly likely that one Johnson, Glen Johnson, is going to be leaving Pompey this summer another Johnson, Roger Johnson, is apparently swapping the championship for the premier league this summer?
The 26-year-old Cardiff defender, who made it into the championship team of the season, is being billed as 'the perfect replacement' for Sol Campbell 'who is off on a free transfer at the end of the season'...
Oh, and another player joining him, also from the championship - not that I am slagging off the championship, but if these 'reports' are true and these are the level of players that we are preparing to bring in this summer then it is certainly going to be a long season next time round, more so than it has been anyway - is Forest's 23-year-old midfielder James Perch.
Then again these 'reports' are from the same paper, The News of the World, which also claims 'Pompey yobs' were able to somehow gain access to Theo Walcott's water bottle during the recent game with Arsenal!
The 'claims' are that after the former Saints player had tossed aside his bottle during the warm up a Pompey fan was able to gain access to it, undo the lid and 'gob' into it - and only the fact that his old man was able to get word to someone did he not drink from it, with it feared he could 'contract swine flu'...
Good god, whilst he did get the usual 'scummer' abuse, I could never hear or see anything more and quite how this paper expects us to believe the fact that a fan was:
a) Able to make his, or her, way onto the pitch side.
b) Undo the lid.
c) Spit in it.
d) Place it back without being 'caught' is unbelievable.
And the further claims that 'a Pompey source' has confirmed this did happen but nothing will happen until 'an official complaint is made' even more so!
So, I think we have surely been convinced more than ever that we must take just about all that The News of the World says with a large amount, let alone pinch, of salt...

Great article especially the Walcott bit - I don't believe this happened, but if it did, I wouldn't really mind I suppose..... I thought you were going to say Andy Johnson, who would be alright with Crouchy up front, IF we played 4-4-2.....

all this negative bull***** from the likes of the news of the world, altho 'laughable' all adds to discredit pompey, which then hinders our chances of being sold - which isnt laughable, lets start suing the sods that are printing the tripe they are printing, not just threatening too...

tbh i do not think that johnson will be actively seeking a move away, if he was why would he sign a new 4-year deal in janaury... unfortunately as soon as the offers start coming in im convinced that as much as we will protest we do not want to, nor do we need to sell him we will... we will then say 'we couldnt refuse him his move'...i want to be wrong, but hmmm, not sure.

I wouldnt mind R.Johnson, excellent in the air, quick, Solid, keeps his shape well. He did well in the Final against us.

The reason Johnson signed a 4 year deal I believe, is that from Pompeys point of view it will cost another club a lot of money to buy him out of it. Lets face it contracts don't mean naf all now, and money talks. I don't want him to go, but we have Cranie who I believe could potentially be a better right back, maybe not the wing back role Johnson plays, but none the less, he is a good defender.

yep, with blarmy. GJ will go & surely the mancs or the scousers will get him. Both have issues at right back. £15m minimum please. Not that we would see much or any of it! As for replacements, let the madness begin...
