'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hopefully this is not an on-going thing!

I was, like some others, wondering 'what had happened to Marc Wilson?'

This question has now been answered for me in by what Gary Sadler has told the Pompey Site in his latest injury roundup, as it has been confirmed that he is currently suffering from another hamstring injury, along with Arnold Mvuemba, with both picking these up in training...

The youngster has had a few injuries on and off since his first one back along, but the latest, which I assume happened when he was recovering from the latest setback as he was 'said' to have been back in training recently.

My concerns for Wilson are that he keeps seemingly picking up injuries, and I hope that this does not prove to be a reoccurring problem as I think the guy has something about him that makes me think he has a big part to play in our future.

Maybe youthful exuberance has seen him try to run before he can walk in his attempts to recover from injuries, and hopefully that is all it is and he is not going to be one of those players that sometimes comes along that has talent but injuries keep being cruel to them.

Speaking of injuries though, that moves nicely onto a little update on the other walking wounded at the moment...

Glen Johnson and Younes Kaboul are 'improving' but neither are 'back in full training' yet so both, or either, would do well to return in time for Blackburn you would think?

Theo Gekas is expected to be back in training next week, having picked up a hamstring problem when playing for the reserves - a game that he scored in, and was impressive in, all of which probably would have seen him pushed forward in our 1st team thinking.

Sadler said he was 'very pleased with his progress' when referring to Niko Kranjcar - who he expects to return in time for the beginning of July, when our pre-season, or maybe someone else's begins...

Papa Bouba Diop is 'improving and continuing with his rehabilitation. He's making steady progress,' but there was no word on when the big man will return, which for me confirms that he will not play again this season, maybe I will be proven wrong though?

I do hope so though, as a certain 'favourite' of mine would probably finally drop out of the side if he did, and you probably all know who I mean? You know, a player that I have been described as 'publicly calling to be dropped!' The same player who failed to again prove me wrong against Arsenal, as I hoped - although did not expect - he would...

Lets hope we have someone fit enough to play at right back, dont risk anyone and make sure that Johnson and Kaboul are fit for Sunderland. Could Belhdj drop in at right back? We need to watch for Pedersen, he has had a quiet season and we do not want him to burst into life on Saturday. I wonder which ex Crystal Palace and West Ham midfielder you are talking about?

We have really missed Diop in the middle, and I worry about not having Johnno or Kaboul fit for Saturday. We looked rubbish on the right handside without them playing. Will it be Linvoy, Belhadj, Traore (now he is almost fit), or Lauren to step in?

so if Johnson isn't fit for Saturday..does that mean he has played his last game for the club? are we protecting him for a big money move?

if he isnt 'fit' this weekend and 'if' we manage to secure survival this weekend i am very much on that school of thought jonathan...

at least linvoy has been getting some football in the ressies, so it would be him over lauren - who will never play for us again, hopefully! oh, whatever gives you the idea that i am talking about an ex palace and west ham player Owens :-)
pompeyrug
speaking of a former palace and west ham player tho who the hell has voted mullins in the 'player of the season' poll? is someone taking the *****..

I agree i can't see us playing Glen again even if we get a draw against Blackburn which I feel will see us safe but won't be an easy task

Oh that's a sad thought if Johnno won't play for us again, I really hope that's not the case.

Training is dangerous, eh, and we haven't even got Joey barton on site.

Oh for the days of Peter Ellis and John Mcloughlin, they were never injured, men were men then, jumpers for goalposts!!
