Lewis for Pompey/Hart for the job/Distin to Spurs
Well 'The News of the World' has plenty to say about Pompey today, some good, some not so good and some slightly worrying...
Joe Lewis for Pompey?
I would not be at all disappointed if Pompey were able to tempt Peterborough keeper Joe Lewis to Fratton this summer, as I think that the young keeper is an excellent prospect.
Lewis, who is only 21, has already been named in an England squad by Fabio Capello as a league one player, and 'if' we could attract him for as little as the 'reported' £2.5m I would be even more so, and feel even we 'should' be able to afford this...
I suspect he would command a fee of more than £2.5m though!

Hart and Kidd to sign 2-year deals?
The 'reward' for guiding us to safety, well not quite yet, will be 2-year contract for Hart and Kidd apparently?
An apparent agent is 'claimed' to have said that they are looking for assurances before taking the job, with these assurances being given at least £10m to spent: 'I had discussions with the club this week and was given assurances before we began talks that Paul and Brian would be in charge next year.
'Most advisors would not wish to send a player to a team if you don't know who the manager will be.
'That would be detrimental to the player's long-term interests.'
I have started to lean 'slightly' towards Hart getting the job but after the Arsenal game, more so at the way we set out, I have very much gone back into the 'please look elsewhere'...
Of course, as much as I am concerned by this, 'if', well 'when', they get the job - as I suspect they will, well unless we are taken over - I will of course back them next season but fear that things will go wrong, we will be struggling come Christmas and player/fan power will force them out...

Sylvain Distin leaving this summer is something that I had thought was nailed on back along, whilst I started thinking he would actually stay I am not so sure again now, and now he is being 'linked' with Spurs...again...
It is claimed that 'he' will return this summer and take the Frenchman to London for £4m?

attempting to recreate our team at spurs was expected, im not surprised by it at all, and alot is going to happen between now and next season, and dealings with spuds will be common place. i just really hope that we hold out for good prices or get players in exchange. im slightly more worried about the (ever suspicious)news of the world article that says hart and kidd are staying on next season, not necessarily that but a possible transfer target of theirs, keith andrews from blackburn.........

why buy joe lewis ??? yh he is a god keeper but he make lots of mistakes ive seen him 4 times this season and all of them he was poor id rather have westwood from coventry.I really fear for our future dramatic changes are going to come in the summer but 10 mill 2 spend that is poor we will be heading down with that. keep djimi traore he is playing really well for birmingham. he could be come ourleft back if hermann is off

We will have a totally different team next season. Hart and Kidd can settle a team, so don't worry lads. They managed to do so in a very short period, let alone if they have their own men and their own time to work this out. A top ten finish next time round. Crouch or James should be captaining the side, if they remain.

Same old rumours as at January, all our players are leaving to go to Spurs. Wish these journo's had more imagination! Of course some will go, just hope we have the funds and pulling power to get decent ones in. As for the young keeper, he would be as future back up for Jamo, especially with Ashdown likely to leave, and he sounds a good prospect. Still hot and cold on Hart as manager, we could do better, we could do a lot worse.

ruffcider,recreate your team at spurs. Are you kidding me? our squad is far more stronger than your squad. So to recreate your team would be a step back esspecially if we aim to push for a top 4 spot in the future. As For Distan, i rate him, he has had a good season. But no way would he start ahead of Woddgate and King. I would think that Dawson and Corluka are enough cover and hence another CB is not needed and even if we do decide to purchase a centre half, we would probaby aim higher than Distan,Maybe a Heinze.

Soon as we are mathmatically safe, we need a new owner soon as possible, then we can make plans for next season, when we know where we stand, until then It's all up in the air.

There are clubs like ourselves,villa,man city and everton all of whom would want to become a top 4 club in the future. There is nothing wrong with my statement. regardless what yid says we did far better with our team last year than they did, and he doesnt rate our players because he didnt bother watching us. because of our fa cup semi final win, alot of our players took their foot off the peddle, ensuring they didnt miss the final, if we hadnt been in the fa cup final we were favourites for 5th place, equal to the best youve managed in years. alas that didnt happen so we had to take home the fa cup instead. the best cup in england, possibly the world, domestically and all that with a team you claim was worse than yours........incredible

Look i am not looking to pick a fight here . Pompy are a good team and i did watch you a lot last season and have watched you this season. But all i said was that if we recreated the team pompy had last season, it would be a step backwards rather than forwards. We have been underachieving for the last couple of seasons but how could anybody claim that pompy have a better squad than spurs?

We have been to wembly twice in the last 2 seasons, we hammered Arsenal 5-1 in the semis and beat chelsea 2-1 in the final to win the league cup last yer and we were unlucky to loose in penalities this year. Our squaad player to player is the third most expensive in the league, thats about 55million more than liverpool, astronomically more than arseanal and just a few million short of Man utd. We have 23 full internationals in our squad and in the past 2 seasons have has brilliant players like Berbatov,Keane , modric,lennon etc. The only person in your current squad who would start for Tottenham is Glen jhonson. So how could anybody claim that Pompy have a better squad than spurs.If you do have a better team then ,why did you buy our rejects likeKaboul,Defoe etc.So ruffcider, I dont know how how you claim you are the better team?

Sadly, Hart will be offered the job & take it. We will lose a shed full of top players as well as those out of contract. Sasha will bleed the club until he gets a buyer. Pompey will be a premier team, if only just. That in itself will have a saleable value. When the new man comes in then he'll replace Hart! Very gloomy but very possible!

I don't think we'll go down this year but next season is worrying. The vultures will be circling unless we can find a buyer pdq. Having said that, most of these rumours are just that, rumours. The papers decide to pick on a team or two and hope if they say things long enough and loud enough they come true. There will be a couple of decent managers available next season so Hart isn't a done deal.

i think youll find yid that your manager is after not only johnson but crouch?, distin? and muntari? in hopes to add more quality to your starting line up. and i say starting line up because he will want to play his own players, believe me. anyone that wont cause uproar he will sell and replace. and bringing in a few who won him his only medal to note is expected, you would have to be blind not to see that, or you dont know him as well as you think. Johnson for instance, he will say were holding out for too much money, hes too expensive, talk about other teams players instead, hoping to drive the fee down, then pay it anyway, because he will cry if he doesnt get what he wants. ruffcider, i am absolutly certain that harry is not after Jhonson or distan.he really likes king,woodgate and dawson and also really likes corluka and hutton and he himself brought in chimbonda. But muntari, maybe but certainly not crouch. With all due respect i think he knows that he is not at Portmouth anymore., Crouch would certainly not improve us as a side.Harry has bigger funds to work with and could go for a bigger name than crouch.
