Traore backs Hart for fulltime appointment

Armand Traore has told sky sports today that he feels Paul Hart could, and maybe even should, be installed as the next permanent Pompey manager. He is of course in a 'permanent-temporary' position until the summer.

The on-loan Frenchman said things such as 'I think, since he has taken over, there has been a big change. The team has started to win' and 'why would you want to change the manager when the team is winning?' among what he said...

I am not quite sure I agree with the 'winning team' thoughts as its not as if we have won that much is it, then again we were not really winning anyway were we! Maybe he is just looking to score some points to get back into the team again? Either way it is good to hear some positive vibes coming out of the club I guess!

I guess if he was appointed next season it 'might' at least increase our chances of keeping Traore next season, although he does not seem to be featuring in his thoughts anyway...

I still maintain my thoughts that if we keep playing the way we are, looking for draws instead of wins, we are playing a very dangerous game but at the end of the day I think we have all agreed that survival is the main thing and we have to do this however we can. Survival would be much easier though if we went for a win or two!

I also maintain my thoughts that we should not appoint Hart as manager next season, for me if we do that I reckon he would have left the club before the end of the 09/10 season as I do not reckon he would see the season out - and then I feel that being 'relieved of his duties' would make the chances of returning to the academy set-up highly unlikely?

Hart is much more important to us in his academy role, and for me the longer we leave him in charge of the 1st team the less likely it is that he will go back to his 'best position', in which case we will not be benefiting from his quality in that position in the long-term - the question is 'who' would take over from him this summer?

With all this said the likelihood is that he will remain in charge of Pompey next season, unless we are sold of course...

Agree 100%, Rug and what does Traore know anyway. He spends most of his time at The Emirates. Mind you, he probably never said half of what has been reproted anyway

I think Pompey will have a new boss next season and Traore will be back at Arsenal or elsewhere. Strange Arnie likes Hart as he has not played for him yet mainly due to injury.

I find it weird that he is backing Hart when he will be leaving next month anyway? Unless he thinks now that he may stay?

Or perhaps they will both ride off into the sunset in a convertible and leave some committed geezers behind to do a proper job.

UKTony is right. All the time Traore is dreaming Arsenal, its none of his business who our Manager will be. I definitely don't want Hart. I want a seasoned pro who has been around for a while in a prem Manager capacity, who has a lot of contacts in the game and lots of experience. No offence to Hart tho, I think he is a 100% improvement on TA, but just doesn't have the contacts or reputation.

I really want Paul Hart to stay and do a proper job.. WITH THE ACADEMY ... That's where his strength is and I really hope (despite what I think of his tactics) that hsi time in charge of the first team doesn't influence people of how good he really is at that ..... As for Armand ..well what does he know

I think what Hart has achieved is being underestimated just because he is not a, so called, big name. To take a side that had picked up only 2 points in the previous 9 games and then get 10 points from 7 games is good going. Only 1 defeat in the 7 games too and that was to Chelsea! If Sven had got the job and done that everyone would be saying how wonderful he was!

I can see that Half Pint, and I do feel ungrateful and a bit shabby to say what I have said. But the fact remains, if we had beaten Hull, WBA and Boro, we would have been in the top ten now. I know if if if but we SHOULD and COULD and WOULD have beaten those teams easily if our tactics had been different.

keeping us up is the main thing, but we could have been safe by now, or near enough had we gone for wins in games we 'could' and 'should' have won as Gandor says - the games we have coming up, starting today, are much harder to win than the ones we 'should have', so i can honestly hand on heart say i would be just as unhappy had a 'big name' been in charge and not paul hart...

The positive thing about Traore's comments is that it indicates players being behind the manager, which is something we've had our doubts about lately, and is something we really need right now, while we're in this scrap. But I have changed my mind and now agree that Hart is not the man to take the club forward next season, and that Traore is going back to Arsenal so doesn't get to comment on that. For now, Hart is just about doing what we need, and if we're lucky, we'll stay up. As Gandor points out - could do better, but he's what we've got for now, so lets hope those other results go our way.

Does his opinion really matter? Probably not! Does our opinion matter? Probably, but is anyone listening? Probably not!
