Dos Santos on loan next season?

After the debacle of a deal that saw a proposed permanent £5m - or so - move to Pompey from Spurs of Giovani dos Santos in January, I would be surprised if he would even consider a move to us again... But, and this is only according to 'FansFC', it is being reported that a 'bridge building' exercise between 'him' and us could see him loan us the talented Mexican next season?

Just imagine 'him' constantly giving it all that all the time about 'doing us a favour' though...

Problem with 'Jamie's Dad' is 'one good turn usually deserves another', so I would suspect that he would be looking to use him as a 'sweetener' to take one of our star players to White Hart Lane to join him, something that he will clearly look to do anyway - we just have to hope that his 'taping up' and 'unsettling methods', as he will do this despite claiming he does not, do not tempt anyone his way, nor is our 'need to sell' great enough that we allow this!

I would have loved dos Santos to have arrived in January, but always had this feeling in my head that his arrival was just 'talk' and we had little intention of actually ever signing him?

In many ways we made the fella look a mug! He was apparently 'not fit enough to play for us', but was for Mexico, and now Ipswich, just days/weeks later so this tends to add backing to my thoughts... All that said, a risk with money of that amount could not be taken could it.

The summer is a long way off, even though it is close at the same time, plenty of rumours will fly around but 'if' we could bring in dos Santos on loan without having to give 'Sandra's husband' anything in return I would take that - as it is I would suspect he would say thanks but no thanks, but maybe not be so polite about it, and in many ways I would not blame the young Mexican...

I don't want to give the wobbly old git the satisfaction of thinking that he is doing us a favour! Dos Santos is an okay player, but there are plenty more of his quality out there that we are probably capable of getting, so I say forget DS and just ignore Jamie's old man.

only player now at pompey who i would take is johnson, and with the way corluka is playing at the moment we dont really need him anyway!

I have not seen enough of him playing to warrant a 'let's take him' and as he can't get in the first team, well why bother. Although in complete hypo style I would take Bentley I think.

would love to have him here but not a loan, couldnt think of anything worse than turning him into the player he could be, only to give him back to jamies dad. couldnt see him coming as explained in the article.

Would be good for all 3 parties if you could give him playing time. By the way the only so called star players you have are probably crouch and Jhonsen . there is no way we will sign crouch with Bent and keane doing well, Pavlyuchenco has also had a good first season and defoe will be back from injury soon. As for glen jhonsen, well we already have 4 international Right backs in Corluka, Hutton .Chimbonda and young Gunter. So we do not need him.

You forgot "Fat Frank's Uncle" Pessimist. I thought it was shameful the way we brought Dos Santos here for tests and then didn't take him cos of fitness. It almost sent out the message that there was something wrong with the lad, when all the time it was probably cos we couldn't afford him. Mind you, I suppose you could blame TA for that, and as he is no longer here, maybe he would come. But would we really want to be in debt to Him? Or would we be? He owes us plenty!

back to lillywhites101 and you thought mate. i know football doesnt work they way 'the fans want it to' but you will soon realise that what you - the fans - want and what 'he' wants will be two totally different things. you might 'only' want johnson, but that isnt to say that he is the only one he wants from us, nor is it to say those you want to stay will...

HARRY REDKNAPP is a total quality manager and you are still so bitter he turned his back, keep johnson as we dont need him and he is also overated and greedy, HARRY REDKNAPP will take us spurs to a much better season next season where as you will be stripped of what mediocre players you have already and be staring relegation in the face, see if im wrong, who won you the fa cup? who managed to get the signatures of diarra, defoe, crouch etc? 3 england internationals is hardly 'mediocre' is it, granted we probably will be stripped of these players - but will this stop my, and others', support of the club, will we turn on it and run like others, nope!
and that my friend is what you will probably find is 'his' biggest flaw, the 'me' factor 'i did this', and 'i did that' - it is never 'we' when something good is achieved it is always 'i' and if a player dares to question this 'i' facotr they will pay a price! funny that if something bad happens it suddenly does become 'we' or 'they'...

Johnson? Are you lot serious? Yes he's s great RB, but we've got 3 Premier League class RBs already in (Corluka, Chimbo and Hutton). I can't see it personally. Also I can't understand how fans of a club that's allegedly £80m in debt and playin gin a 20,000 seater stadium can be too serious about expecting your best players to stay if decent bids come in. You should be gratefull you're even in the PL imo. Nothing at all against Pompey or it's fans, it's just I think you need to be realistic. I would not expect GDS to feature too much n the Spurs side next season anyway, so I'd think there's a good chance he'll be loaned out. Whether you should want him or not, I'll leave for you to decide. My feeling is he seems to have struggled for fitness since arriving with a series of minor injuries and for all his obvious skill and touch on the ball, he will imo struggle in against the more industrious sides.

Just for the record, if I were a Pompey fan, I can imagine I'd have some pretty strong feelings about "him" myself. I don't blame any of you for feeling bitter after he went to your South coast rivals, let alone leaving again this season, although I should think that move on its' own might have been more forgivable for many of you.

I would like to see Gio be loaned out somewhere for at least the first half of next season, and then if he has done well he can come back to Spurs.
