'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Pompey's lions pride

Pompey, according to that muppet 'Hatchet Man' are rubbish, well one of the 'rubbish teams Newcastle will play before the end of the season', so if Alan Shearer does keep the barcodes up it will be because they play us and other rubbish teams...

Well this 'rubbish' side made up more than a quarter of the England starting line-up for the world cup qualifier with the Ukraine on Wednesday night, so I guess that makes England rubbish too if you follow 'Hatchet Mans' logic - Pompey are rubbish so David James, Glen Johnson and Peter Crouch must be rubbish, which would then mean England must be rubbish to select them!

As you can probably tell I have been festering on this latest 'swipe' that this tool has taken at Pompey, all be it only a minor swipe on Wednesday morning... Anyway, the 3 Pompey stars all started for England in the game that we won 2-1 to keep us very much on track for the world cup finals in South Africa in 2010. No other club had more players represent England tonight, only Chelsea, who also had 3, could match us! A proud evening to be a Pompey fan, although I for one am always proud!

Crouch opened the scoring before going off, with John Terry scoring the late winner after Andriy Shevchenko had equalised for the visitors - all 3, and as far as I know, all our other international contingent have come through without any problems so we look set to have a full deck for the trip to Hull on Saturday, bring it on!

PLAY UP POMPEY!

Johno 4 ?.. Why ? I though he had an OK game .. why only 4 .. that's just crazy .. I thought they all did ok although Jameo still has to make his customary 'lost concentration' bit a couple fo time.. Crouchy worked tirelessly I felt and took his goal well..

I didn't see the game but 5 live callers afterwards were slating Cole something rotten. I can't believe GJ was worse.

For what its worth I thought both Cole and Jonno had poor games, I wouldn't have given either of them more than 4 or 5. Jammo a 5 while the star that is 'defend from the front, and while i'm at it score a cracking goal' Crouch a 7 pushing 8 for sheer effort.

Well having been at the game, I can say that people all around me were calling for Cole to be subbed! He had a shocker of a game and game the ball away in dangerous positions a lot! I cannot believe that someone rated him a 7! What a joke. I would not have given anyone over 5 yesterday appart from Rooney who again played his socks off. Everyone else was way below standard.

However, I think we have a right to have a stupid Crouchy dance all of our own at FP - last night's was obviously a reference to Smithy's Comic Relief sketch - come on PC, get your thinking cap on lad...he'd be great doing that riverdance stuff with those gangly pegs and nothing would look more stupid (unless Nelson the mascot joined in too)

crouchy I thought played VERY well. Jamo had a poor game for him - but could do nothing about there goal, so he did his job. Johnson Didn;t have his best game ever - but it was FAR FAR better than coles, who every single paper is giving 7s to. WHY?!?! he kept giving the ball away, getting caght out of position, and generally do nothing. Johnson at least was fiarly solid.
