'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Deal or no deal? Pele...

So, we have some 15 players out of contract in the summer (or seeing their loans with Pompey end) it is almost time to decide who deserves a new contract and who does not deserve the drippings from my nose, well ours noses!

I was going to look at them all together, but I think I will do them one at a time... Simple question, and as the bearded one would say, 'deal or no deal?'

Pele - loan ends

Another that I have not seen much of, then again no have many of us! And, as we know, YouTube can be very deceptive!

That said to play 15-20 games in one season with Inter must mean that the guy has something about him, as to do that as a teenager, let alone and established player in a year long spell - or so - is not bad going.

We need him to get some games between now or the summer - and I feel we will despite thoughts to the contrary that he was 'one for the future' when he was loaned in by Tony Adams, I would hope that was only a 'smoke screen', but its proving a pretty hefty smoke screen and totally went against the way we were apparently doing our January deals! Why sign him if he was not going to be used? Although of course it is now a new manager in charge...

Deal or no deal? Deal.

There are some concerns that he might not be a team player and might be a bad apple, but I could not say how true they are.

I felt that he had been signed to have a look at him, play him in some games and then have him as part of our long-term future...but as said, with that being the case under Adams' charge maybe not?

He is young, yet clearly talented - I might be wrong in saying deal, but some players 'must' arrive in the summer, maybe he will be one at the right price, but unless he plays though this seems unlikely. A 25-yarder in the reserves the other day cannot have hurt his chances of some 1st team involvement though.

These are my thoughts, what about yours? As always please share them below...

I agree with you 100% spot on Rug. He seems like a talented nipper and his goal for the reserves was sublime - let's hope that when he gets his chance in the first team (note I say when and not if) then he'll do well and hopefully will provide a bit of pizzazz in midfield - I can see him coming on in games when we begin to look tired to inject a bit of pace into the team.

I've no idea, so have no reason to get rid of him. Deal

dave - have you seen the price being quoted though?! I can;t see him staying on, purely becuase of that. Looks a real talent, which is a shame - but we havn't seen enough of him, and he is fairly expensive.

He's another one that was brought in on loan to help us till the end of the season and can't get in the first team. Can't really say - I guess deal as long as the price is right.

One for the future maybe but to date I've seen nothing to suggest why we should sign him - Yep a good goal for the stiffs but if he can't get into the first time now then what good is he... No deal but reserve the right to change my mind if we see him in first team action before the season end..

Can't see the point in our loaning of him...Why? so he can prop up the reserves? there has to be cheaper ways to do it. No Deal.

If it's down to pure money, they'll let him go, ideally he will stay & prove his worth. Deal.

I'd like to get a chance to see some of these people play, at least. Didn't I always say that we needed to dump Adams before the transfer window. Now we're stuck with a bunch of people no-one wants. Rather tragic. Wonder who Harty and Kiddo would have bought

There's no real reason to say either way, although if he is as good as people suggest, then Deal. Not sure why Adams got him in the first place, but if he's good, who cares!
