Crouch fit to start for England

Not only has Peter Crouch fully recovered from his hip knock, something that he felt was 'not accidental' when he was caught by his former Liverpool teammate Martin Skrtel, the big man will lead the line for England against the Ukraine tomorrow.

An early injury to Emile Heskey at the weekend after he had scored, and missed a sitter, meant that Carlton Cole came on. Injury to him then meant that Fabio Capello had no alternative but to turn to Crouch - something he, and Pompey would have preferred not to have seen - and when he made way before the end of the game, mainly as a precaution thankfully, hearts were in mouths! The striker jinx continued when Darren Bent was called-up, but then had to drop out after picking up an injury in training, which has now seen Gabriel Agbonlahor called-up from the u21 side!

With Crouch fit and raring to go he will lead the line, with Wayne Rooney playing off him, as England look to put one foot firmly into the 2010 world cup finals.

Would it be too presumptuous to say that he would be joined by David James and Glen Johnson in the starting line-up?

If not then that would then see Pompey make up more than more than a quarter of the England starting line-up for a major competitive game, not bad for 'little Pompey' is it!

That is something that makes me proud, but I will also be very nervous at the thought of possible injuries, so please come through this game without any problems guys - I cannot even watch the game as I have to work to make up for another day off for football, so I will be even more on edge not actually being able to watch events as they unfold...

Mixed feelings on this - whilst I LOVE the fact that we have three Blues starting (possibly) for England, at the moment I wouldn't want to risk Crouch for injuries. Crouchy seems like a smart guy though, one who know's his gangly body's limits, so I'm sure if he's been passed fit and feels fine then he'll crack on and won't risk anything.

Being selfish, I'm only concerned with him not picking up an injury

I'm pleased for Crouchy, and proud of Pompey's 3 Lions - but quite concerned as well. I have the feeling Capello is out of any other options, and I hope Peter isn't being risked despite a nagging injury. After all Fabio would say he has a world cup to qualify for, and for him, it comes first. For us the relegation scrap does. Crouchy's a sensible chap but wants to play for England, he's not going to refuse is he? Fingers crossed all 3 of our lads come home fit, Crouch and Johnson both score in an England win.

I'm proud that lowly pompey have more members in the england starting line up than (almost) all the "big" teams! OK, he MIGHT come back injured - but then, he MIGHT get injurred in training at pompey anyway (with our training facilities, it's quite likely!) - and he could come back from scorring a hatrick, and with a massive confidence boast.

So do I Tracy, its all Mr Gs fault. One minute he's going and the next he's not. He only said yes when I told him I'd go on the coach. Says he didn't want me boring everyone on the coach - bloody cheek!

I'm with Carpet.. I'd love to see him bag a couple and then come home score twice in the first half aainst Hull . get rested and replaced by Gekas at half time and then Gekas round it all off by grabbing our third in a 3-0 victory over Dull City

I am VERY excited as in a very last minute move I am now going to the game tonight! Amazing, I have not been to a live game since November and then end up with 3 tickets in 1 day! I am SO proud to be a Pompey fan and having 3 players starting for England. Lets hope they do the business.

Hope you enjoyed the game Sneakay. Nice to see Crouchy score! He didn't appear to be injured, we'll have to wait and see if there's any impact on that dodgy calf. All Pompey's 3 Lions played well, we should be proud of them.

Gandor - men, eh? tut.

Wow Sneakay, you lucky toff! As Tracy says, hope you enjoyed it. Huh, whats not to enjoy! Pleased Crouchie and indeed Jamo and Glen came off unscathed. Bring on Hull then - with or without me.....:-(
