Deal or no deal? Djimi Traore...

So, we have some 15 players out of contract in the summer (or seeing their loans with Pompey end) it is almost time to decide who deserves a new contract and who does not deserve the drippings from my nose, well ours noses!

I was going to look at them all together, but I think I will do them one at a time... Simple question, and as the bearded one would say, 'deal or no deal?'

Djimi Traore

I pity him, and not in the BA style 'I pity da fool' way.

He was on a hiding to nothing when he came here. No one really wanted him and most people had decided that he was no good from the off - I was as guilty of this as anyone, but I did eventually come round to the thought of 'he could not have played over 100 games for Liverpool for nothing'...

In all fairness to the guy he did not actually do too bad for the club - I think my fondest memory of him was that fantastic acrobatic goal line clearance against Arsenal a couple of seasons back - and for me only suffered so much as he was not one of Jamie's Dads 'golden boys', so he was then onto another hiding to nothing!

He is just now seeing out his contract, picking up what he can and that is not something I like and seems very much in keeping with the 'most footballers are mercenaries' thinking.

Word is he is on around £23,000 per week, so decent money to not do anything to earn it, which he cannot even do at Birmingham as he is injured - then again this is our fault here, or Sandra's husbands fault, we gave him the money and the contract length so a player that is not actually as bad as made out, granted not good, but has been treated shabbily, he was going to take what he could?

That said he had the chance to leave but it would appear his excessive wage demands cost him the chance to have played regularly - so he is guilty of 'money grabbing'...

Deal or no deal? No deal.

I say that he 'could' potentially still do a job, but we will want him off the wage bill, and these wages are massively higher than they warrant for what he does, and his heart is well and truly out of it now.

If a player with just months left on their contract is loaned out for the rest of the season this tells you something really!

These are my thoughts, what about yours? As always please share them below...

NO DEAL. One of many dodgy players that ginger bloke signed because he didn't trust the existing players. One of his big mistakes, not trusting the likes of Matty Taylor, Gary O etc. Djimi Djimi had the capacity to play well but tended to 'turn it on' to correct his own mistakes and blunders. "Poor little Jimmy wouldn't let go" and that does not endear him to us, does it?

Rug you have been really kind to him. I remember him more for not paying his council tax than anything he ever did on the pitch - lets get rid.

In his first few games he looked enthusiastic but then the errors he is reknowned for set in. Hard to think he has a Champions League winners medal.

No Deal

Et_tu - ok. i wanted to be rational... but is it really necessery with a player so skillful he managed to do a maradona 360 into his own goal... and still pick up a champions league winners meddle?

Hello Pompey fans. I tried to get Jimmy onto the website to say his bit but he just was not interested. He is on a bit of a downer having taken the loan deal to St. Andrews and then getting injured. I think we all know Jimmy's long term plan is to return to France but he say BCFC as a shop window. As it stands he will more than likely take a free in the summer to which ever Frech club offers him a contract. He has no intention of staying in England. Anyway when are you going to do me I have been waiting ages to say my bit and you better say deal
Sean Davies

Haven't we done Sean Davis already ?.. I think he may have missed it.. could be wrong but I seen to remember speaking about it ... anyway for me as with all the other NO DEAL .. and that even goes for you Sean !

So I registered wrong and did not no how to chnage it. And thanks for the vote of confidence Chix mate. I just hope you are never in charge at Fratton. I would stand no chance
Sean Davies

(lol) I'll stick with what I said Sean. No deal and no room for sentiment in football.. unless of course you can score the odd goal between now and the middle of May !!.. Unlikely as that'll be

lol gonna have to disagree with mr.chix here and say deal for seany. he is a proven prem player, yes he keeps it simple, yes he rarely scores, but he keeps the morale up in the team when things are down ... memories of the three wheeler in action on the webby with the a-team theme tune... jokes. i think we will regret letting him go (if he goes!)
