Deal or no deal? Noe Pamarot...

He may not be able to do a job for us week in, week out, but I would rely on him to cover at right back for GJ if he was to get injured during a match or something, so I would offer him, as you say, a reduced deal, because although he won't play much, he has done well for the club and is a fairly decent back-up player.

no deal for me, pompeyrug has said how i feel aswell, i think cranie or wilson would be as good, and cheaper in wages

deal, he can play well, and we should like jbaker said, keep him as cover. Although, if we can get him for as little as possible, it would obviously be good!

NO DEAL - if he want's a load of wages, but DEAL if he comes cheap with modest first team requirements.

I only just realised that Noe is French for Noah as in Noah's Ark - "L'Arche de Noe". I was trying to make some witty comment then about keeping all the animals on the boat but it didn't seem that appropriate! I'd feel reluctant about giving up a defender at the moment but would see 2009-2010 as the make or break year for Noe to finally crack it and menawhile be looking for sturdy chaps in the September transfer window

Deal, on the understanding that he isn't a regular first teamer and might not even be first reserve. Wilson would win that one

I like Pamarot a lot, he's stuck a couple in the back of the net, he can do a job..he's a big strong fella. but i mustn't let that bias me on this. I'm a bit 50/50, but maybe if he were offered a reduced deal he could still do a job, and he does offer us a back up in defence so i'm gonna come off the fence and say DEAL...

bakes, maybe 'if' he was playing week in week out he would do a job? im not convinced that he would but maybe the fact that he only gets games here and there his problem...
cannot see him accepting a deal knowing he will be back-up, at best at 30 he will want to play wont he, and if not picking up as much as he has been even less likely?


ruffcider, i had high hopes for cranie, but whatever his future is i see it more as a central defender - that said im not sure he will have a long-term future with pompey himself anyway...?


Et_tu, like i said previously, i cannot see him accepting a more 'modest' wage or accepting 'modest' 1st team opportunities, but you never know...?

the difficult thing with that an paramount is 'if' we do give him the final chance, could you see him accepting a '1 year contract?' granted this give him a final crack and means not uprooting his family but i maintain my thoughts that sitting on the bench picking up wages isnt what he wants...?


Tony, assuming johnson stays - and i pray he does as he is a major player for us - then wilson would also be my back-up to him. paramount would then only be retained for his versitility to cover a range of positon, but then again that is anotheer reason i would keep the herminator!
all that said im still unsure quite where wilson is most effective! what i do know is he does have a part to play. i often say i think his ability on the ball makes him 'too good' to be a central defender, but that could be his eventual position, altho i feel sitting just in front of the back 4 could be tailormade for him? but all in all, wilson would for sure be my back-up at rightback for johnson, again who i pray stays...?


corny, my heart rules my head far too much - ive really tried not to let this be the case with the 'deal or no deal' series, maybe my head has ruled my heart in this instance. im not overly keen on paramout, then again i wasnt when we first had him so he had to 'win me over' again. i thought he had, but im still unconvined.
we do need to retain some players tho i guess, and his already mentioned versitility and 'slightly' younger age could work in his favour...wages must be cut tho...

Noe is a classic, can play great & hasn't a clue sometimes. A new manager coming in may want a clean slate to start with. Not sure what we can afford to baulk the squad with quantity over quality. As it stands, NO DEAL.

Deal - we need to keep some players and I think Noe is a great squad player. He isn't actually that bad, can play at right and left back, and despite prone to the odd error can provide decent temporary cover better than anyone else.

as has been said above - he may not be good enough for a first choice defender - but that doesn't mean he is still a very good player, and potentially excellent back up. He can play anywhere along the back 4 - which means rather than having 4(3) players in the squad as cover that won't really be playing, we only need to have one. and as he does cover all 4 positions, he will play more often than a normal back up, and so may be more willing to stay. And if we can't pursudae him to stay covering for 4 positions, we won't get anyone as good to stay just covering one. I say DEAL - or at least offer him one, and if he says he wants first team football...so be it. (i guess we'll find ou what he thinks though if past experiance is anything to go by... :-) )

NO DEAL - he just worries me at the back i dont rate him and i fink he is total ********* !! send him back to france because we have craine / wilson for cover.

Is has become a little 'traditional' in the dressing room at Fratton to comment on these articles so I trust my comments will be taken in the spirit they are meant (Lauren was a little upset that some doubted his authenticity!) I enjoy a good career at Portsmouth and have already openly stated to the management (past & present) that I would be happy to accept an extension to my current contract. To date nothing has been forthcoming but I remain comitted to Portsmouth and despite the obvious contenders for the right back position I should remind you that I can and will play any position the manager requires

funny that all the players use almost exactly the same writing style isn't it? ...anyway - I do agree with what "he" says. Pamerot can play anywhere across the back 4, and can do the job to a decent standard. Cranie is coming through - but has simply not recovered from his broken leg, and other than that, we have no-one that is even close to being as flexible.

I thought that too Carps but if you look back they actually all differ somebody somewhere is doing a good wind-up either that or they really are commenting ..

Hmm . . a bit unsure on this one. I didn't like him at all when he first joined us, but he grew on me last season - didn't he score a scorching goal last season? I think he's good back up to the defence, so I'm going to say deal.

is chix always the first to write after every player comments?....hes on the ball that chix fella, they call that a sixth sense you know....

The only current player to have played for Pompey before the turn of the century!! I really don' t know about this one and think it depends on finance. So I will sit on the fence but tend towards a one year deal.
