Sol off for a final 'payday'

Sol off for a final 'payday'

Sunday would not be Sunday - although of course I write this giving you a 'heads up' late on Saturday - without an article in the News of the World that 'slags off Pompey', or 'speaks of departures' and/or also mentions something to 'ease debts of £95m'...

Well I am 'happy' to say we are not let down, woo hoo!

This week's instalment does not exactly 'slag off' Pompey, so credit where it is due but it does use the phrase 'will be part of a summer clearout', so some negativity but not exactly slagging off! It does of course mention '£95m debts' and is about a possible departure, with this departure said to be Sol Campbell, who is off to the rich mans tax haven of Monaco...

Sol earns £100,000 per week, which 'must be true as the NOTW tells as so in the article', and as he has said he wants to end his career abroad he will be off!

To be honest I would not be in the least bit surprised to see him leave this summer and although we would miss his experience I think the time is probably right. In all honesty I think I would be more surprised to see him stay! I would not begrudge Sol a move to Monaco though, and would wish him well.

As always though, lets just see what happens eh!

==========

Cranie to be 'shipped out' on loan?

This next section was not in the NOTW though, let me start by saying this...

Rumours had grown during the week that Martin Cranie would be loaned out again in the not to distant future, and now sky sports 'understands' that we are close to loaning him out.

Leeds had been mentioned, but it is 'said' that he will return to Charlton, where he has already had a loan spell this season.

The guy just has not been the same since his leg break for me, and although I have 'bigged him up' in the past I am not convinced that he has the quality to make the breakthrough in the premier league?

Although of course I hope that my original thoughts that he 'could' be a future Pompey captain and England international in a central position can still happen, but sadly will not be holding my breath...

Thoughts on both please guys.

if it really is £95mil then it's good to not have players getting 100,000 a year, and yes, he has wanted to go, everyone know. Just wondering why it would be brought up now though, seems like a weird time is all.

mate were not £95m in debt, and sol isnt on £100,000 per week...
technically sol can arrange a free transfer to a club now, so 'if' the notw has some proof of this is could already be done and dusted - not that i would suspect sol will arrange anything until the season ends anyway tbh...

I'll have a word with Mark Hughes. We could use a seasoned professional like Sol in 2010. On the other hand you guys should either keep him or find a top replacement. The back line is looking more than a bit ancient just now.

Sol could be helping financially us by going, but hopefully the domino effect doesn't kick in and cause many others to follow suit. As I have said many times the pack of cards could come tumbling down at any time, and where we will be then, probably in the wilderness where we once came from. Please don't bring back those dark ages of sufferance and ridicule. Yes I am sorry to be negative but regrettably the signs are there for all to see and the cracks are appearing.

nah.. pompeygray.. Campbell leaving won't affect much.. It's Johnson, James and Crouch we neeed to worry about.. They're the ones everybody expects to stay.. the others (Campbell, Kanu, Kranjcar & co) are expected to go.. As for the cracks showing that's true but they no more show now than they did 6 months ago..
