Well, its gotta be done I guess...

To be honest I did not want to do it, but whilst travelling up to Pompey today - in preparation for the game with Chelski on Tuesday - having time to 'ponder my own thoughts' gave me the time to think about 'him', well really not him but the league cup final in general, and what my thoughts on it are...

When I got on the Cardiff to Portsmouth train at Westbury, it was full of Cardiff fans due to them playing Scum today. Well, when one group got off to leave the train virtually empty at Salisbury they left behind a paper - fancying a read I helped myself, of course The Sun was going to be plastered with league cup build-up and 'his' picture all over it, but this was to be expected.

My blood boiled seeing him, let alone seeing him holding aloft 'our' FA cup even more so, which was of course as always portrayed as 'his'...

It is funny how a man can turn from hero to villain, but hey this is not really something I want to go over again but reading what Lomana LuaLua, Benjani and Dejan Stefanovic had to say - I do not include Niko Kranjcar as his views just seemed 'bland' - I could not help myself break into a wry smile thinking 'I could picture exactly what they are saying and that is why I did like 'Jamie's Dad', I do not respect him any longer but I guess I do still like his way, he is a character 'for sure'. Still from time to time, as irritated as I get seeing him and hearing from him, a part of me still likes him in a perverse kind of way.

I cannot stick Manyoo, never have and never will, then again I am not 'keen' on Spurs but the thought of 'him' parading round Wembley again with the league cup, not that it is a patch on the FA cup - do not get me wrong I would not knock winning it! - and saying how much it means to him would make me want to put a brick through the box!

I have heard that he has said something like 'beating Derby, or a championship side, would not have meant as much to him as it would beating Manyoo' - he did not have a problem with that last season!

I know we have to 'worry about our own season', and I do, I tire of looking out for their results as they are not going to go down are they - come on, as much as I and many of you would love this, it just is not going to happen - but as much as it is a rarity, and I almost cannot believe that I am saying it I am willing Manyoo to win tomorrow.

Without a doubt this would he hailed as 'his monumental achievement', and I just could not take it.

So, after a long-winded and probably not needed ramble, do I want 'him' and Spurs to win the league cup?

Saying 'I do not care' would be a total lie, my honest response, in a word, nope two words, hell no!

totaly agree. Whenever I saw his picture - or his interviews, in any of the papers, I genuinly felt sick.

I think you should all grow up and be gratefull he came, you wouldn't have an FA cup win or the players like Crouch, Niko and Glen etc; not to mention Diarra and Muntari to sell to fund the club. I still hope we finish above him though!

russellm - when he came back, he had just got southampton relegated - so he was hardly likely to be in demand. When he came in the first place, he had just been fired by west ham. same applies there really. I think that the real reason we have players like niko, glen and crouch is sasha, and his very large cheque book (well, it was. just look at dimji's wages (£20 000/week) to get an idea of how much we were paying!).

i agree carpet, we might not have done brilliantly since he went, but that's changing now, so... we will show that we dont need HIM in the rest of this, and next, season.

Amen carpet, and great article Rug. At the end of the day, Harry is a great man-manager and he really did great things for us, but he is disloyal and backstabbing, and only looks after numero uno. I will be supporting Man Utd tomorrow, and I really really hope Spurs get relegated - that way it would show everyone that Pompey weren't just Harry Redknapp.

Utd to win the most one sided final in years 3-0 or even 4-0 would be perfect for me ! I accept that he was great for us,but it was a partnership of mutual benefit as we did him and his ego the world of good too. His parting shot of bleating about 'doing Pompey a favour' being the reason he left was an insult to our intelligence,and with his departure went the last ounce of credibility the man had with me. The best comparison that I read about his treatment of us,was a wife going off with the neighbour you hate,you having her back to make a go of things,then after you making every effort to make her happy,seeing her disappear with the wealthy guy from up the road. Do you appreciate the time you had with her,or do you move on and treat the very sound of her name with complete contempt from thereon in ? (For tomorrow only) COME ON UTD !!!! As they say in the TV ad, like the Murphy's, i'm not bitter ! lol

Well said Lincs - its been a very bitter divorce indeed, especially the way it all happened - we didn't even know he wanted the divorce and he was already being show on telly in bed with Spurs. I think I'm beginning to get over it, but will SO be rooting for Manyoo tomorrow. If Spuds win, I'll be really depressed.

I thought that our game against spurs would have ended it for me - and that I would be over it. I really thought I would be. However... just seeing the way he talks about us, as if it was all him that won the fa cup, the way the press makes out it was all him. everyone seems to forget lowly pompey - in a time when we need all the love (and money :-) ) we can get.

They already have a thread called "Redknapp Out". Nothing he does is right for them - even when they won their league match against Hull last week, he couldn't do right. He has swapped a club that adored him for one that tolerates him - just. That must be sinking in by now. as ive said several time russ ive appreciated all he has done for this club, and forgave him once - this second betrayal, which ive found hard to get over as i really did fall for all his bull*****, the 'this is my spiritual home', 'i could not do this - leave - to the fans again' and most of all 'im pompey til i die', and i was present when he once said this...
jamie's dad is out for jamie's dad simple as, his true colours were shown, and i do tend to agree with carpet, he came here when he had nothing else, and always with the intention of stabbing rix in the back (who granted wasnt good!)... he left as milan and he both had egos that wanted massaging, and portsmouth wasnt big enough for the pair! had balls to come back, but even then he knew money was available and thought 'sod scum', leaving them in the lurch... what happens here when the going got tough again? yep he *****ed off, and in the night like a thief, then all his bull***** about 'doing it for the club'...
i cannot stand manyoo, i cannot stand sir alex, i cannot stand a large amount of the manc fans but as much as im still 'amused' by jamie's dad, and he is that character that you cannot help finding amusing i have no respect for him at all now, and he has little for anyone else, so i hope spurs get a bloody good spanking tomorrow. somehow 'if' spurs win that achievement will be a 'greater' one than our cup win, and not just in the media eyes, i suspect in his too as 'he' beat manyoo - and of course it would be becaause of 'him'...

Go Man Utd. You are the best team in England, are entertaining and when we play you in late April I hope by then you have already secured another title and are concentrating on Europe. Well there is not a lot that i can add that hasn't been said already. People stay in relationships even when they don't like somebody, if it's mutally benificial. But when you have no respect for someone it's almost impossible to sustain. Respect is king....and the king is dead.

As for the LC Final i must admit i'm hoping for a convincing Man U win. It's not rational because i hate Man U but whoever said that football was rational. Maybe my hopes are biased a little because of a certain Jamies dad figure.... silly but true.

Thats a laugh - a spurs fan giving anybody a lecture on sour grapes! In all honesty, I don't really care if they win or lose. What really galls me, I suppose, is that Spurs fans have the nous to see HIM for what he is and we didn't.

actually quietman, supporting man u is actually what we should be doing for the benefit of our team. Them winning opens up an extra space in europe that - potentially - we could reach. (not that we will...)

Thankfully,having cheered every good attack they had for nearly 2 1/4 hours, I can go back to it being Man. Who again ! Was lovely reminiscing over Wembley again though,so it wasn't a completely wasted afternoon. Looking forward to Chelski now

Having sold my soul to the devil for the afternoon I can sleep easy tonight knowing it was in a good cause;) Fantastic, the 'slimedog millionaire' dumped out of the uefa cup and losing the league cup final all in the space of a couple of days....and all this rubbish about sour grapes, more like the grapes of wrath! As for the 'focus on supporting your team' thing, it's what Pompey fans do like it's going out of fashion!

Hopefully thats the last time i will ever be cheering on United. On the plus side they took Spurs to extra time and that may help sap a little of their energy. just a shame that they won't be distracted by Europe anymore. It's a shame that other results didn't go our way this weekend.

Glad Man Utd won, and couldn't agree more about the extra European spot too, even if we don't get those few wins together, how good would it be to have Wigan or Fulham in Europe. Even if it goes to Man City, I would much prefer to see them in Europe again than Frank's Uncle.

Don't worry, there will be mutterings in the Spurs camp soon, if there hasn't been already. After the initial spurt when they took on our old manager things have gone sideways. A few more bad results and they'll be wondering why they ever got rid of Ramos...
