Pompey want Grant...claims his wife!
According to a 'report' on setanta sports this morning, which says comments made by Avram Grant's wife Tzofit Grant were in The Independent, Pompey are keen to appoint the Israeli as our new manager...
The 'claims' are that she is quoted as saying she has been told that 'Sacha wants him installed, as do the players': 'Avram became picky after Chelsea.
'I know Sacha wants him and that players want him.
'I can show you a text message that was sent to him from someone in the club. He called me and said, 'Tzofit, tell Avram that everybody wants him'.
She also criticised Chelski owner Roman Abramovich for getting rid of him after the champions league final last season, when he should have left him in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Clearly I, and the vast majority of others - if not all others - do not know what goes on behind closed doors at Pompey, although much of this is often aired in public these days anyway! But, Sacha Gaydamak wanting Grant, the husband not wife, as the new manager is something that I suspect he does want. I do not agree with the thoughts that 'the players want him' though - again, I cannot say for sure, but the impression I get is that it is the majority of players that have opposed this, and they seem to hold a lot of sway at the club these days, hence why he has not already been installed...
I know people say that he would have his merits, but for me I say 'thanks but no thanks' and would sooner we carry on with the caretakers we currently have in place and see what happens regarding a takeover - and as said yesterday 'rushing' to appoint them of a fulltime basis is not something I feel we need to do just yet though.

tough call, sven - altho citeh tailed off at the end - did take them to 9th was it, the highest in a while, granted he spent big... grant took chelski to the runners-up spot in the league cup and champions league and 2nd in the league but with the tools at his dispossure should he have achieved anything less?
carry on as we are for the time being, hopefully we can get taken over before the summer/early in the summer - before players are sold off again! - and someone brought in, maybe someone totally different to names mentioned...
