Pompey want Grant...claims his wife!

According to a 'report' on setanta sports this morning, which says comments made by Avram Grant's wife Tzofit Grant were in The Independent, Pompey are keen to appoint the Israeli as our new manager...

The 'claims' are that she is quoted as saying she has been told that 'Sacha wants him installed, as do the players': 'Avram became picky after Chelsea.

'I know Sacha wants him and that players want him.

'I can show you a text message that was sent to him from someone in the club. He called me and said, 'Tzofit, tell Avram that everybody wants him'.

She also criticised Chelski owner Roman Abramovich for getting rid of him after the champions league final last season, when he should have left him in charge at Stamford Bridge.

Clearly I, and the vast majority of others - if not all others - do not know what goes on behind closed doors at Pompey, although much of this is often aired in public these days anyway! But, Sacha Gaydamak wanting Grant, the husband not wife, as the new manager is something that I suspect he does want. I do not agree with the thoughts that 'the players want him' though - again, I cannot say for sure, but the impression I get is that it is the majority of players that have opposed this, and they seem to hold a lot of sway at the club these days, hence why he has not already been installed...

I know people say that he would have his merits, but for me I say 'thanks but no thanks' and would sooner we carry on with the caretakers we currently have in place and see what happens regarding a takeover - and as said yesterday 'rushing' to appoint them of a fulltime basis is not something I feel we need to do just yet though.

I would rather have Grant than Sven. He has a much better Premiership record does he not? Plus he knows Pompey and Sacha.

but how much longer will sacha be here tho...
tough call, sven - altho citeh tailed off at the end - did take them to 9th was it, the highest in a while, granted he spent big... grant took chelski to the runners-up spot in the league cup and champions league and 2nd in the league but with the tools at his dispossure should he have achieved anything less?
carry on as we are for the time being, hopefully we can get taken over before the summer/early in the summer - before players are sold off again! - and someone brought in, maybe someone totally different to names mentioned...

'dispossure', is that a word i have just made up, if not it is spelt wrong and is probably no in the right context with what i was saying above, but i guess you get what i mean...

avram had a better team than man city, and it was the first year they won nothing, losers in 2 finals and knocked out of the fa cup by a championship team, i really cant see the attraction, im sure many managers could have won something being in 2 finals, one against spurs. we all like people for different reasons but sven for me, hes won far more credible medals in his career.

i'm sure disposure is a word and microsoft word agrees with me so i guess it is lol but u could have just said disposal =P but on the managers neither sven nor avram have really been tested in the premier league, sven had loads of money and avram had a ridiculously good team to start with although he did buy anekla and thats turned out pretty well lol so i don't really think we can judge either apart from on jobs outside of the premiership and you can't even do that cause its so different i mean look at Perrins record outside of the premier league lol

Well Mrs Grant would say that wouldn't she. To be honest i can't think of one thing that Grant would bring to the table that is not already there under Hart and Kidd. I'm probably biased because he leaves me cold. Sure we're going to need another manager but let's have one with some passion and charisma. A good man manager.

Just had a thought!!! is Mrs Grant available and up for the job. She can obviously handle the press easily. That's a plus for a start...

Grant hardly failed at Chelsea - 2nd in the Prem and champions league final is not bad, and he didn't deserve the sack. As for having all the good players already - that doesn't always guarantee success, Scolari did worse. Also our situation is that we do have a lot of good players, internationals, even if our midfield is a bit depleted. Adams couldn't achieve anything with them, we need someone who can. Yet its hard to get excited about Grant, and right now I think Hart and Kidd need to be given longer to see if they are the answer first.

Grant knows the club and that is a BIG advantage. Whether you believe the story is another matter!!

Match highlights - Pompey 0-1 Orient

Disappointing as it was, you take the rough with the smooth and cannot gloss over things when they aren't so good so here goes with the 1-0 defeat Pompey suffered against Orient.

Simply not good enough!

Call me a moaner, call me a groaner but if you think the performance against Orient was good enough then I think you're wearing blue tinted specs as that was poor from Pompey.
