Davis still in contract limbo

Davis still in contract limbo

Sean Davis epitomises what most Pompey fans love to see, he flies into the tackle and keeps going even when Pompey are dead and buried in a match.

Thing is with Sean though, Tony Adams indicated that he was to be offered a new contract but he told BBC Radio Solent that nothing was agreed and he effectively becomes a free agent very soon: 'We've been in negotiations for about 15 months now so it's dragging on a bit.

'Obviously I'm a bit upset that I still haven't signed anything.'

Love him or hate him, he does a lot of the water carrying stuff in midfield and drives the team on, he plays a captains role without an armband, and if he were to leave on a free at the end of the season more than a few eyebrows would be raised.

I can't for the life of me get my head around this. If we want the best out of Sean this ought to be sorted and sharpish. We are in for a slog and we need him feeling he's part of the family. As paultsmouth say's, Hughes has signed his, and out of the two of them Davis is the first choice player...What's going on???

Without SD there we would have been in an even worse position than we are now. Give the bugger a contract!!!!

Presumably the discussions are stuck over either length of contract or money or maybe both. Hughsie's expectations are probably lower that Davis and with money tight we have to be careful. BUT Sean deserves a decent deal and I for one hope it is sorted soon.

My opinon of headlesd has improved a bit i admit but he still regularly gets the lowest player ratings and its because he isnt good enough. Im sorry he isn't good enough has a high salary and the club want rid, harry tried to off load him, looney tried to off load him and grant the same. Running around and passing to the opposition should not epitomize Pompey although that could be for debate recently. The reality is if we had money or we get taken over he wont get a game, however beggars can't be choosers and we are beggars so I say sign him up to one more year of pointless headless running, reckless challenges, wasted passes and needless bookings

If we do go down then Sean will be the type of player we will need to get us back up, however you do get to thinking that there is some sort of plot to see what happens to us, and then the club will make a decision.

Weird how people have different perceptions of Davis, I think Russel is one of those people who sit behind me and never see a tackle won, only those missed or a pass misplaced, same people who go on at Crouch every game even though he is our top scorer by a long chalk

i think everyone needs to read this with a pinch of salt. hes had the contract in front of him for a while now and whilst there is negotiations I think this is more of Seans doing than the clubs. I think he is waiting for the outcome (relegation or not) and will sign if we stay up, or move on a free to Bolton. I know who will be offering him better wages though ...

Third time lucky? Nope as O'Shea interest ends

O'Shea saw a couple of bids for him put in; these were turned down by Chesterfield. A third bid hasn't come from Pompey and it isn't going to either.

Topping last seasons tally the aim

78pts was only enough for a play-off place last season so you suspect we'll have to better that for a top 3 finish this coming season, which begins with Carlisle at Fratton.
