Vega putting together takeover package?

Another Sunday and more 'rumours' surrounding Pompey, but potentially positive ones for a change - although I must stress that the reports of a possible takeover being put together by Ramon Vega are reported in The People and are written by our 'mate' Alan Nixon, of infinite 'exclusives to materialise' fame...

Anyway, the suggestion is the former Swiss international - who had spells in Britain playing for Spurs, most famously, and Celtic, most successfully - is putting together a 'multi-million-pound' takeover consortium to buy Pompey from Sacha Gaydamak, who of course as we know is very keen to sell up.

Vega has moved into investment since his playing days ended, having interests in investment firms and building companies - potentially good news for Pompey considering the fronts we need/want to look at? He has his own firm, Duet Group, which he set-up some 7-years ago and is also said to have an interest in cap it alinvestment, a Swiss based management and private equity company.

It is 'said' that Vega has met with Gaydamak twice in recent times, with him being a VIP guest at Fratton when we lost to Villa and he is looking to find backers for his latest project with him now looking to move into football, well back into football, but on an investment level.

'If' backers can be found that believe that money could be made from investing in the club, which building a new training ground and what have you would bring, then the potential return is there.

Finding these backers willing to invest, and of course getting that concrete permission to build the much-touted new ground, could be problems that need overcoming before anything can happen...

As always 'lets wait and see what happens!'

plymouth graham
Not sure what to make of this one.. I think you're right Rug 'lets wait and see what happens!'.. if indeed anything does..
Chix
if the ground got the go ahead withthe tesco thing etc we should be an attractive option, which is why we are going for Sven i suppose
plymouth graham
Yeah, just read about this, who knows eh!! If you want a bit of a laugh, follow this link i got from a Celtic Forum concerning Mr Ramon Vega Google Image Result for http://www.planet-wissen.de/pics/IEPics/intro_uw_model_g.jpg
cornypomp
I can just see him wearing that in the boardroom Corny.. Nice (well good) find
Chix
In the last week NOTW has had Davis, Johnson and Crouch desperate to leave, all looked desperate yesterday didn't they?
paultsmouth
Well said Paultsmouth, we are getting back to something like an organised football team. If Vega buys us and has the passion for the club then we should give him a chance, Donadoni has managed some big clubs so he has the pedigree, however i reckon Sven is on his way to Pompey, and most at the game yesterday seem to be convinced about this as well. I hope the three mentioned are desperate to leave every week if they play like this.
Owenspompey
I look forward to speculation turning into something positive. Whilst we are in lombo over a new owner, the club will only stutter forward. The win was great yesterday, another 4 needed???
storagematt
very interesting. what i want to know is why Stuart Pearce was there?? potential new manager or was he just there on Under 21 duties?
nodster
my guess would be under 21's nodster, well i hope so anyway =D. but agreed with matt, we do need to sort out the owner asap and if not before the end of the season then definatly in the 1st few weeks of summer cause we know sacha aint gonna spend anymore money. look forward to seing what happens in the coming months could be very interesting (well i hope so)

just switched on sky sports news, does anyone know anything about ruud gullit, putting himself forward for manager? theyve said nothing about it but its in the text at the bottom.
ruffcider
I think that is great news that guillt has put his name forward for the job. That team what he built at chelsea was his team but when he got the sack and vialli came in he got the credit when it was rudd guilt team.I would go with ruud he has a good club manegerial record with a percentage around 60%.
stfc ballboy
As long as the new manager has the repesct and therefore the support and confidence of the dressing room i would be happy. I just hope and pray that the ego's of some of our squad do not get in the way of the battle to stay in the Premiership.
Owenspompey
Agreed Owens! Ego seems to be the in word at the moment! Every team seems the same, unable to contain this player power
pentonpompey
not sure about ruud, grant or sven to be honest
plymouth graham
I heard bout the Gullit 'interest' in the job through SSN. Whilst I like the guy and respect his opinions as a pundit, I'm a little unsure if I'd like him in charge of my team. He's never lasted more than 18months in charge of a team (admitedly not always through his own fault) and it seems that he has never always managed to gain the respect of his players (unusual given his stature in the game!?!) I remember reading after he left LA Galaxy not long ago that there was a lot of dressing room unrest and he was unable to gain or give any respect... and this makes me think 'do Pompey need this right now?' - Therefore I think its a thanks but no thanks Ruud, not unless you can guarentee me 'Total Football' at FP a la the Dutch teams of the 70's...
GoOnDave
Mind you he made a complete pigs ear of it at the barcodes. Benching Shearer!!!
storagematt
Apparently Mr Curbishley is showing an interest now. But i guess all this is going to go on until the real deal happens. The plot thickens..
cornypomp
At least people are saying they want the job - its good to be wanted. The Vega thing sounds promising, its all gone very quiet today though, although that's not necessarily a bad sign.
