Pompey cut season ticket prices

Pompey have announced that season ticket process for 2009/10 have been cut.

Rather than rabbit on I will simply share with you what they did with us on the Pompey Site...

PLAY UP POMPEY!

==========

SEASON TICKET PRICES SLASHED FOR 2009/10

Pompey are cutting season ticket prices by up to 120 next season - a staggering 16 percent.
Prices have been reduced right around Fratton Park for fans of all ages.

Blues executive chairman Peter Storrie said the move has been made to reward the loyalty of supporters in today's tough financial climate.

Savings range from 10 to 120 and prices have been streamlined so supporters sitting in the south stand (excluding the family section and upper extension), north stand and Fratton end all pay the same.

For instance, a final-price adult season ticket in the south stand has dropped from 770 to 650, while an early-bird junior season ticket in the Fratton end is down from 345 to 275.

Blues executive chairman Peter Storrie said: "We have the smallest capacity of any ground in the Premier League and we need to generate as much revenue as we can.

"But in these current economic circumstances it is only right that we do not do it at the expense of our supporters.

"Our fans are fantastic and have backed us through thick and thin. These reductions are a way of saying thanks to them for their passionate and loyal support."

Every season ticket in the ground has been cut except south stand extension early-bird and wheelchair disabled final prices, which have remained the same.

The club will again be offering an interest-free payment option to help supporters spread the cost of their season ticket.

Dates for when season tickets go on sale and details of all the payment options will be announced on this website and in the matchday programme when finalised.

Is this a sign of pessimism about survival by the club rather than a response to credit crunch?

dont be a bloody pessimist hammersmith. we all need a break in prices at moment, be it on food, fuel, and even football so be pleased its a reduction and cheer up.

Wouldn't you expect the early bird prices to offer a greater saving than the final prices? This would encourage more people to renew.

75 saving for an adult in the Fratton End for doing the 'early'. Small gesture when you think we won'y know what division we'll be in until May. That is a realistic view & not being pessimistic! 19 prem games are not the same quality as 23 championship games.

Yes its savings but it is not really much in todays climate, especially as they are forecasting deflation in March!

Any saving is good news, especially when we know the club isn't rolling in dosh these days as well. By the way - whenabouts usually is the 'early bird' renewal period?

Just worked out that if I dropped down to the family section with my son, rather than sit in D section, I would get both tickets for what I pay for just mine now, bit of a no-brainer really

Ok ok, sorry for my unusually pessimistic slant on things. Thanks, PFC, for saving me a few bob next year. I will buy myself a hawaiian shirt, a pina colada and cheer myself up.

So I'm going to save 1.50 per match. If three of us club together we can share a programme each game. Unless something pretty amazing changes the aura surrounding the club, there are going to be a lot less season tickets sold next year.

Would seem that we're all in the same boat. Wonder how teams like Liverpool, Manu etc. that have massive debts (and obscene ticket prices) are going to react. Will they reward their overcharged fans or will they continue to rely on glory-hunting tourists to fill their grounds? Nice move by Pompey anyway.

Cinsidering they COULD have gone UP and they haven't this is really good news - Every little helps.. I'd renew mine anyway so a 1.50 saving per game is great for PREMIERSHIP football !

I suppose it's the 'Wooworths' syndrome I object to, you know, (up to) 75% off EVERYTHING!!! then you find the best bargain is fourpence off a Wii system. I wish my ST WAS 120 cheaper, that's all . . .

I for one welcome it. I didn't renew my ticket last year cos the expense of getting to games from Cornwall was starting to break the bank. But now the cost of fuel has come down, and i've found a really cheap B&B in Southsea this will make me re-think. Good news...
