Kidd joins the Pompey set-up

Kidd joins the Pompey set-up

Pompey have confirmed that Brian Kidd has joined the Pompey coaching staff and will help out caretaker manager Paul Hart, becoming his assistant.

Had Tony Adams brought in someone with the experience that Kidd has, and to be honest not getting in a vastly experienced man to act as his assistant did not do him any favours did it, then maybe he would still be here? But there you go...

Anyway, the appointment of Kidd only adds to the 'Sven Goran Eriksson could very well be on his way' thoughts, as the former Manyoo assistant of course worked closely with him during his England days and only health issues saw the pair part ways.

Despite the media claiming 'he had turned us down' this is not actually the case; he merely said that he has a job to do with Mexico - he is hardly going to say that he is going to take the job is he. He has since said that he is 'flattered' by the link.

With this latest development, the appointment of Kidd, I think I have shifted to a 60:40 that the Swede could be appointed - not that I am getting carried away of course!

I am not trying to brush over issues, but other news from today such as Peter Storrie saying that Adams was unlucky but had to go, Johnny Metgod thinking that the axe was wielded too soon, not to mention Jamie's Dads thoughts along the same lines are all issues that I will not cover in too much.

This is not because I 'cannot be bothered', but to be honest I think we have all just about said all we can about the departure of the last man - I am still saddened by it, but I guess we do have to move on...

Only thing now though, is that Chelski have appointed Hiddink, so that puts Grant back in the frame again as he mates with Sasha. I do agree though with the Sven link and I reckon it will be all announced on Friday once the world cup qualifier is out of the way.

Got to be a good appointment. You surround yourself with experience & quality & it has to rub off onto the players.

You could be right about making Sven more likely but the timing of this seems a bit strange unless of course we beat Citeh and Sacha goes for the cheap option again Hart & Kidd, hope not. If not Sven maybe Grant with Kidd working with the players. As I've said before I can't see the players respecting their ex "bibs and cones man" but they'd probably accept Grant with Kidd alongside.

Managerial madness, as reflected in the lower leagues - Avram Grant gets a mention on Vital U's today: http://www.colchester.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=143355 Pretty dead, so some comment would be fab!

i think were "down to the bear bones" lads and thats why kidd was brought in. i dont think sacha would be that frugal again, he must understand this is no quick fix situation. whilst ug says 60:40 on sven/no sven, i think it is 40:30:20:5:5 ... sven/grant/other/bilic/curbs.

I must show my age and say I remember Kidd's 19th birthday!! irt was the day they beat Benfica 4-1 after extra time to win the European Cup - was that only 40 years ago? Good appointment as he will make a great number two for whoever is given the 'Hot seat'.

Kidd is a good singing. Off topic according to sky we have hit the woodwork 2nd most times this season behind Liverpool. We have hit it 14 times! That shows our bad luck! http://www.skysports.com/experts/expert_story/0,19793,12038_4913957,00.html
