Duffy joins Millwall!

Woo hoo, the Pompey Site and the Millwall one are both reporting that Richard Duffy has finally left to join Millwall.

The Londoners say it is a loan until the end of the season, Pompey mention nothing about length or fee - just that he has gone.

When the season ends, so will his contract so he will then finally be free to leave Pompey for good!

We have just relinquished one of the hottest properties on our books .. This guys is class and we've loan him to Millwall .. Not disrepect Millwall fans but I would have though at least on of the big 4 would have come in for him.. I'm gonna dig into my dusty files just to prove to everybody what we have let go...

Right I'm back... This is the report I have from when he signed for us

Pompey agree terms with Duffy
Portsmouth are continuing to build for the future after agreeing terms with Swansea City's young Welsh defender Richard Duffy. The 18-year-old versatile starlet, who can also operate in midfield or attack, has made 18 league appearances for The Swans this term while also featuring in the FA Cup. Although the two clubs are yet to agree a fee for Duffy, the teenager has thanked the Welsh side for their part in enabling him to join the Premiership club. "Richard is delighted to agree personal terms with Portsmouth," said his agents Grass Roots Management to "He feels that it is a fantastic opportunity to further his career and one that he could not turn down. "Richard would like to thank Swansea for giving him the opportunity to talk to Portsmouth, especially chairman Huw Jenkins, who have been very understanding and supportive." Pompey boss Harry Redknapp is known for his wheeling and dealing in the transfer market and it appears the South Coast side have a star for the future.

What's going to happen to our future now?
I seriously think, without Duffy we are sunk without a trace

Oh well at least we managed to hang onto Djimi Traore.. [Edited by hickin]

He was full of potential that only simmered to the surface when he played in the championship. At the time of purchase it seemed a good deal. Remember Matty Taylor came from a similar situation!

Defender Richard Duffy will return to Portsmouth from Coventry at the end of the season after signing a new deal. The 20-year-old's current contract with the Premiership side was set to expire and he had been on loan at Coventry. "Duffy will be going back at the end of the season because he's signed a new contract," Sky Blues boss Micky Adams told the Coventry Evening Telegraph. "He got a new and exclusive deal about a month ago. I am sure it will be nice playing in their reserves." Just pulled this off of the three year old report on the BBC. Hilarious.

I love it when we look back at all the things that have been said about a player.. Maybe we could make this a feature.. first up Utaka.. now his signing story is hillarious 18 months on.. although I still do habour (maybe foolishly) the wish that one day ..just one day he'll turn into the player we expected ..

Chix, I remember all of the exciting surrounding Utaka and Nugget - a double signing. Both have turned out to be complete toilet, although we pin all our hopes on Nugget because he's the only player who looks like he gives a toss. Thank god we'll be ridding the dead wood this summer.

Chix I agree with that idea completely. Perhaps we could branch out to some of the other players that have been signed by other clubs in the past that have hilarious back stories (Ali Dia anyone?)
