Pompey fail with final O'Neil approach?

On a busy transfer deadline day the latest reports are that Pompey have failed with a player plus cash offer to Boro for Gary O'Neil and this deal is now beyond a doubt dead...

The player has not been named, but information that I have is that this player was Sean Davis, which I doubt comes as a surprise to many - so much for 'being mad' to let him go!

'If' true then I would not have thought that Davis will be a happy man, and if we were trying to offload him the chances of him signing a new contract would seem doubtful and a move away could yet still take place? That said it is getting a bit late in the day for that...

Maybe he's not happy and the club kow there going to lose him in the summer anyway?

So why not let him go to Bolton, unless Davis wants a free in the summer. Shame about GON, I would have welcomed him back. Reports suggest Santos deal off???!!!

We should have offered Utaka, that would have swung it!!

Would have like GON back, but it's not that bad we didn't get him,, so...

Feel sorry for Gary O, he obviously doesn't want to be there and can't get a route out. Would have been a good addition to Pompey.

I'm pretty sure that i read somewher that Davies was keen to stay here, obviously we don't know the details of the contract on offer to him but I think he'll sign it soon. I find it hard to believe that the club would be offering him as a make weight when they turned down an offer and with the comments that were made then. But as with all things Pompey we'll probably never know the truth.

That will cheer Davis up! Perhaps we didn't let him go to Bolton as we were grooming him as bait for G O'N. All very tatty

Jamies' Dad has now secured a place for himself as a Saint in the Church of Spuds. Makes you puke!

Sentimentally I would have love GON back as his hard work and endevour were great from the moment he stepped on the pitch as a 15 year old.. But it's not the end of the world, he good but not THAT good .. and if he wants out so bad and Pompey want him so bad .. surely we only have to wait untl he activates his 'relegation clause' in his contract when Boro go down !

haha maybe you're right chix!
