Storrie issues a statement

Storrie issues a statement

Peter Storrie has issued a statement on the Pompey Site asking for everyone to pull together in order to get us out of the current situation that we are in. Also again stressing what our financial position is, what the situation is regarding Sacha Gaydamak and what the clubs stance is regarding Tony Adams...

Storrie on pulling together and Sacha
'We are all in this together. From the board through to the coaching staff and players - we win together and we lose together.

'We all have our responsibilities. The board needs to make the right decisions off the field, the coaching staff need to get the tactics right and the players need to perform on the pitch.

'The reality is that the owner, Alexandre Gaydamak, has decided to sell the club.

'Having invested more than £40m the club has won the FA Cup and enjoyed two seasons with top-10 finishes and he has now decided not to continue that investment.

'As a result, we had to sell two players to put the club on an even-footing financially.

'We have done that by selling Lassana Diarra to Real Madrid and Jermain Defoe to Tottenham. But there has been no fire-sale, as was predicted in the media.'

Storrie on keeping others and arrivals
'We have held onto the rest of the squad despite having enquiries for Peter Crouch, Glen Johnson and Sean Davis.

'These have all been rebuffed and we have also brought in five new players so far in January and turned Nadir Belhadj's loan into a permanent move.'

Storrie on Adams' position
'Let's put a few things straight. Firstly, there has been no board meeting to discuss the manager's position and there is not one planned.

'Of course, both Tony Adams and I have spoken to Alexandre Gaydamak.

'We do this on a regular basis and at the moment our priority has been focused on adding to the squad before today's transfer deadline expires.

'We are all concerned at our current run of poor results, none more so than Tony and myself. However, it's important we all pull together and get behind Tony and the team.'

Storrie on the fans and our role
'Our fans are the best in the country and we need them to continue to support Tony and the team in the same way as they have been.'

So, there you have it guys, make of this what you will...

Bring on Liverpool.
02/02/2009 13:43:00
We always pull together and will always love Pompey, what we need now is for the players to show the same loyalty and spirit. I hope thet did have words at Fulham, in fact i hope they came to blows!! that shows a bit of passion does exist.
02/02/2009 13:44:00
Yeah too right, this is our club so lets be broud of iot and get behind the lads as we always do and lets get back up into the top ten. Looks as if going Greek may just be a shrewed move and a good bit of business. Time will obviously tell, but maybe TA has taken after Jamie's Dad and nicked us a couple of cracking signings.
02/02/2009 13:45:00
Yeah at the end of the day, all we've got is each other....(it's like EastEnders without the drumming)
02/02/2009 13:59:00
lol evry one is right, we ARE in this together, and we do need to just pull together. can't wait till we can sing it properly, we are staying up!
02/02/2009 14:11:00
I don't think there is any doubt that the fans will stick together, still think it is time for Storrie to go though!
02/02/2009 15:09:00
Of course we are in it together except some can walk away & leave the rest of us in a huge mess. Bl00dy cheek telling us to do our part.

Chaplin secured

Chaplin had a contract with Pompey until 2018 but ahead of the disappointing Notts County defeat he extended his contract with the Blues until 2019.

On this day in history...25th October

Another Fratton disappointment

That 2nd half on Saturday against Notts County was woeful - absolutely awful wasn't it. The first 15-minutes or so of it was like a pre-season friendly to pre-season!

Match highlights - Pompey 1-2 Notts County

What a disappointment that was! The 1st half wasn't bad, in fact large chunks of it were good but the 2nd half was just woeful with a soft centred Pompey beaten 2-1 by Notts County.
