...to pull something out of the bag that is!
Yep, we need to pull something out of the bag guys, letting players go is not the answer, and spending massive amounts of money on players does not always bring in what you need - that said speculating to accumulate is surely the way we need to go.
We are 'said' to have around £5m or so to spend, lets splash the lot as this would be £5m worth spending when you offset what we would lose by not doing this and potentially going down!
The name of Stephan Appiah keeps being mentioned.
Yep, I worry about him being a 'mercenary' but Owenspompey makes a valid point, is he any more one than anyone else? We desperately need a creative element in midfield, but also this creative element needs to be able to have a physical presence - the Ghanaian has both. Give him a deal until the summer, his wages would not be cheap, but again I say would this not be worth it to give us that better chance of survival - look at what we stand to lose by going down... On the other hand you do have to ask yourself why is he still a free agent after all this time?
Bringing in a striker, even if only on loan is a near must.
I am a self confessed Armand Traore fan, but the fella has lost the plot recently. His self belief and his 'fight' have gone, he has become something of a passenger, and we cannot afford these - yep, we would have paid a loan fee for the season but could we not cut our losses, return him to Arsenal and bring in someone else on loan if need be, but not someone the likes of Marlon Harewood!
A gamble I know, but if taking the loan route then Carlos Vela on loan from Arsenal would be the way to go if you ask me - he is quality and has the goalscoring ability we crave! With the Tony Adams connection surely Arsene Wenger would help him out?
Another theory that I have is that maybe, just maybe, as we are being linked with so many loan deals we do actually still have a loan slot open?
Jermaine Pennant is thought to have come in on loan, but a 'short term' deal was also mentioned.
A loan fee would have been paid, so for £1.5m-£2m I would have thought that would have secured him on a contract until the summer, it then leaves him with the ability to leave his options open and make the free move elsewhere in the summer - or stay here. That way Liverpool also gained as they got a fee, albeit a small one, for a player they would otherwise get nothing for...
If not already done, then maybe this is something that we 'should' look into doing, similar to what we did with Jerome Thomas earlier in the season, we turned a loan into a permanent deal - but what a waste this deal has been!
'If' another loanee comes in before 5pm on Monday then this answers the question on this loan issue.
Whatever though lets have everyone working on double, double overtime - the senior figures at the club must get paid enough, so earn this like it has never been earned before. We must pull something out of the bag.
The lift alone that a new player, or players, coming through the door will give everyone connected to the club would be worth something special - but at the same time these must be decent players! The club, the players and the fans will remain deflated if we go through tomorrow without any activity, and should the only activity be outward bound then we may as well throw the towel in now!
The talking stops, our actions must speak louder than words - of which we have been given plenty, and we must see positive actions taken in the next 24-hours or so. It is in no way an exaggeration to say that our future, and maybe not just premier league wise, could very well depend on our 'braveness' in the next 24-hours, well less in fact...
