Pompey move for Spurs' dos Santos?

Pompey move for Spurs' dos Santos?

A new, and somewhat surprising name, has been added to the 'linked to Pompey' collection - this man being Spurs' Giovani dos Santos.

The teenager, who had been one of the most sought after youngsters around, has not really enjoyed a fruitful time with Spurs since his arrival and does not seem to be one of Jamie's Dads 'golden boys', so his chances of forging out a career in London look slim?

Lyon have been linked with the 19-year-old along with several teams back in his homeland of Mexico but sky sports news is under the impression that we are in talks with Spurs over a possible deal to bring him to Pompey - which would have to be a permanent deal as we are out of loan moves we can make, and £7m is being mentioned! An amount that seems unlikely, even more so seen as this is some £2m plus more than Spurs paid Barcelona in the summer.

The fella is talented, without a shadow of a doubt he has quality oozing out of him but he seems to go against the grain of what Tony Adams says he is looking for - proven premier league players who could go straight into the Pompey side and do a job...

Time will tell I guess what the score is on this one, while 'other reports' are saying that Citeh's youngster Daniel Sturridge is being courted as well. However these reports say we are looking for a loan deal, but we cannot do this as we have no more domestic loans available!

There are also some reports growing that Bolton are to offer £2m for Sean Davis, who is of course out of contract at the end of the season so will walk away for nothing should he not agree a new deal - something that we are supposedly keen on him doing? We need the bodies, but the longer that things go on without a new deal being signed the more likely it is looking that he will be leaving in the summer anyway...

So, what do we make on these 'reports' guys?

If Davis can help with our survival, that would be worth a ton more than the £2m we would lose out on if we refuse to sell him and he refuses a new contract. We need to boost numbers, not reduce them!

there are other domestic loan rumours around as stated in adjacent articles, but folks keep saying we've maxed out on loans.Giovani dos Santos would be a good buy but not at £7m, Personally I reckon that Peter Storrie has been spotted talking to spurs, the journo has reckoned it must be a desperate Tony getting a player who harry doesn't want when in fact it's spurs buying Crouch either now or n the summer, call me cynical but thats why i think we were able to get Pennant from Liverpool because Johno will be off their in the summer.I am not worried too much because up or down I think TA will do a good job for us which may include a season away from the premiership. But back to the point in question Giovani dos Santos sounds like a good buy and Sturridge has got bags of potential him and Crouch would be good i think

I see about as much truth in the Davis rumour as I see in the Crouch rumour. TA said there would be no more sales and I believe him. This is unless there is some CM coming in that we haven't heard of. I wonder why Frank's Uncle hasn't had his two bits about Gio's proposed move yet.

At face value, none of these stories make a lick of sense for the reasons already stated. So for that reason, I'm not buying into any of them. I'm prepared for the egg facial if all three have happened by the time I wake up in the morning.

I was really shocked when Spurs got Dos Santos in the summer becuase by all accounts Barca got rid of Deco and Ronaldinho because they had Dos Santos and Bojan coming through. For Dos Santos to join us would be ridiculous, but if it was to come off surely it would be a major coup, unles he is just majorly overrated. Sturridge I thought was linked with Villa, but would be yet another coup if we were to get him. Finally, Davis leaving? Please no. Selling Davis would be just like when we sold Benji, O'Neil and Taylor - it would be selling the soul and heart of our team!

Have noticed that TA doesn't seem such a fan of Traore as HR was. Is it possible that he can send back Traore to Arsenal, and take another domestic loan? The papers rarely do their homework, but am also wondering, do you remember PS "short-term deal, loan, he will be free in the summer" comment ref: Jermaine Pennant, is it possible he has signed on a short-term deal rather than a loan - Liverpool knew darn well he was off in the summer, he wasn't shifting - despite (probably) our offer of a tasty loan fee - so they sold him instead - but Pennant only signed for 6 months with an "option"? Unlikely but possible I suppose...

Getting rid of Traore wouldn't bother me too much. A lot of speed down that wing but no end product!
