Lauren staying afterall?

Lauren staying afterall?

Lauren staying for 'family reasons'
Back along Lauren made his thoughts perfectly clear - he wanted to leave Pompey this month and 'others' would join him in a mass exodus... Some may say this is the case, but lets be honest we have sold a player that had always been honest with us about his intentions for an incredible amount and another that made it clear he wanted out, and of course for a very good price!

Well now it appears that the defender has decided he wants to stay with Pompey until the summer, with his agent saying 'family reasons' will keep him here despite rumoured interest from Bolton, Blackburn, Fenerbache and AEK Athens.

Clearly I do not know the full story, and I apologise wholeheartedly if I am wrong and there is a serious family reason for this, but is it too cynical to think that maybe these family reasons are 'not getting offered as much money elsewhere!' A further 6-months of picking up decent money here could be of some comfort...

To be honest, you never really know what is true, but I still maintain my thoughts that we should have, and were surely within our rights to have terminated his contract following his apparent outburst.

Saviola loan deal lined up?
There is so much talking going on, yet not much action - we were told 2 or more would arrive in the next 48-hours or so, and that must be at least 72-hours ago.

Well, Javier Saviola has been mentioned a couple of times and The Sun today says we are lining up a loan deal for the rest of the season.

Will it happen? I do not think so, wages would be a problem, not to mention him actually wanting him to come here.

Would I want it? Hell yea, what a fantastic footballer he is!

As I say, things have gone very quiet - is this because nothing is happening, or have things gone quiet because these deals are getting closer and closer to completion? What I do know is we desperately need at least one midfielder to arrive in time to play on Sunday...

Nugent to leave rumours return
It was only a matter of time before they returned, we could not have a transfer window without Dave Nugent being linked with a move away - and now, according to The Sun, he is off to Sheffield United for £3.5m.

In terms of what we would get back, its not exactly a bad return on our investment but as much as it might be out of hope as much as anything else I still harbour hope that he can come good - letting him go out on loan where he can play as a striker again, well why not...

James - slag 'em off! Surprise, surprise, the media twist these thoughts ...
David James has said that we are entitled to give Harry Redknapp and Jermain Defoe stick when we face Spurs on Sunday - and he is right.

In typical 'media fashion' his comments have already been twisted and manipulated to suit those who want to use them - I saw one fella, Mick Dennis, on sky sports saying that the England no.1 one was wrong to say what he said, even more so 'in light of the racist and homophobic chants that Sol Campbell received'.

Well, after his mocking and berating of James I think this guy might well be better off actually revisiting these quotes and seeing what he is actually said to have said as he did say so long as these are not racist, homophobic or overly offence they are ok - which it completely right, and hopefully will be the case!

Look through all of the above, take it in and then share thoughts on all please guys...

Lauren can go. No way do we want or need him after his comments. He should be sacked, and owe us money for attempting to disrupt our club!

why on earth is he staying!!?? he practicly told the other players how crap our club is..
15/01/2009 11:47:00
Lads, i think he is going to stay, and the sad news is i dont think anyone will be coming in. Great excuse, if we cant/wont offload Lauren, Hermann, Nugent, Kanu etc. then we wont be able to bring in new faces. I reckon we are being duped again, so be prepared for the worst.

Saviola would be a great signing. Being half Spanish myself, would be great to get more Spaniards in the Premiership!
15/01/2009 12:20:00
Sorry - just realised he's Argentinian. I'll get me coat.

Lauren, should be told to F'off after the comment he came out with last month. Is he hanging on to become a free agent in the summer and therefore command a higher wage?
Saviola, yes please but it's just not going to happen unless LD tells him how great we are.
Nugent is just starting to play for us so he is going nowhere!
15/01/2009 12:32:00
Can't we send Lauren to Sheffield & if we do get a new forward isn't that meant to replace defoe, not sell Nugent as well???
15/01/2009 13:13:00
Good call Sneakay about Lassie recommending us to Saviola. I honestly think that we can get him now...

Lauren is a wa*ker
15/01/2009 15:24:00
Don't bring wakey into this. Whatever Lauren does has nothing to do with him.
