Hermann going nowhere?

Hermann going nowhere?

Hermann Hreidarsson was expected to leave this month - with him openly admitting he wanted to go and saying that the club would let him, but Tony Adams has ruled this out. He wants the defender to stay and fight for his place.

I can understand why Hreidarsson would want to leave, as when you are 34 you know that you do not have many more years in the game so you want to play as much as you can, and doing that here that often is not looking on for him really is it?

He will almost certainly leave in the summer if he does stay, so I say - as I have before - why not retain him until then? He cannot be on a massive amount of money wages wise and he is they type of player that I feel we do need - if called on he will do a job, and that is what we need. All you have to do is look back to the Heerenveen game, he had not played for some time before that but he came in and did a great job at the back and scored.

Yep, I know it is selfish but sorry Hermann I say why let him go, keep him and if he comes into the side keep him there if he does well... That said if he 'desperately' wants to leave then we will have to let him, as players not wanting to be here are not what we need or want are they.

Hermann showed his true value last night. He is 100% player for 100% of the time and even though he was only on for a few minutes he was geeing players up and prepared to throw his body on the line. If times get tough you cannot have enough of that type of player around.

I actually believe he can still do a job for us, anyway come on Storrie you said recently that you would expect to see some new faces in the next couple of days and as yet there have been no announcements. Please don't let the fans down!

I'd have Herman in the side over pamarot every day of the week. I'm sure he'll get some games if he sticks around. He'd be a better option than Belhadj in games we need to play more defensively.

At worst keep HH until the end of the season. He is a good character to have but i think his best days are behind him.

Hermann is the sort of person we need as a swuad player, just like Hughes. Players that won't moan, and will come in and give 100% when called upon.

I think he's a very useful player and despite the performance of the two lefties last night there are times when we need someone a bit more solid at left back. I'd quite like to see him there and Belhadj on the left wing a bit more. I'm not convinced by Traore's crossing ability (although he does put in the occasional beaut) and think Belhadj looks up a bit more when running.

A very dependable decent Left back, A much better LB than Bellend and Pamerot.

100& player - and more importantly, I beleive he is actually good at defending set peices (and scorring from them).

If he really wants to go in the summer then that's up to him, but if Kanu has been worthy of having another year on his contract the past two years, then I think Hermann is equally worthy of another year in the summer. If he wants guaranteed games, we can't promise him that, so if he can find that elsewhere, he will go I guess. Be happy to see him stay though.

I think Herman is a scrapper in the same mould as Sean Davis and David Nugent. It is these kind of players we are going to need, as well as the technical talent, to get us through the next few months. He is a bit of a clown so I am sure the other players would be sorry to see him go, I bet he makes them laugh.
