Why mention Johnson?

Harry Redknapp just does not know when enough is enough does he! He claims 'he did nothing wrong' as far as Jermain Defoe was concerned, which fair enough if not mentioning you would like to sign him at any given moment is doing nothing wrong then he is in the clear... Either way, I think most are in agreement the best thing was for him to have left the club anyway.

He has now 'felt the urge' to mention Glen Johnson and how 'he would have gone back to Portsmouth for him' but has not done so as he 'did not want to get involved or cause any problems!' Oh, how very kind and noble of you sir...

Does he do these kinds of thing 'accidentally', not realising that just the mere mention of wanting to sign someone can be unsettling, or does the fella not even know what he does - hence why he always feels 'he does nothing wrong.'

Either way, if he 'does not want to cause trouble' why even mention him, or anyone else that plays for Pompey for that matter?

A transfer getting closer?
The transfer targets are growing, all manor of names are 'being linked', most of whom have previous with the club or Tony Adams.

He has dropped a 'settle hint' at his liking for Joey Barton, who he knows from his Sporting Chance clinic and suggested that an improved offer for Gary O'Neil could be made - I still think that the fella will return to Pompey...

Yep, I know people might say 'are you not being a hypocrite for not slagging him off but doing so to Redknapp' for 'public speaking.' The way that Adams does this, and it is rarely, is totally different and so far very respectfully done.

Anyway, back to the 'links', a £3m re-signing of Benjani is growing and a £6m move for Manuel Fernandes surfaced yesterday, and of course there is his former Arsenal teammate Edu who is still said to be on the verge of joining on loan.

Hopefully we can get some dealings sorted out very soon - without a doubt by the time we face Spurs next weekend, maybe even by the time we have our FA cup replay on Tuesday?

An article coming up later today on who the five players we will sign this week are - but as for Redknapp this is just a ploy to unsettle us ahead of next week - As time goes on I am really begining to see Harry for exactly what he is and I firmly believe there is nothing accidential in anything he says. As for not wanting to cause trouble surely it's a bit too late for that isn't it !

leave harry alone. you were all happy to see him win the fa cup for you last season. now you have turned on him. what is adams doing with that same team. selling the best players and losing games. defoe was not going to stay once harry left. do you really think harry talking in the press about player does anything. he could speak to his agent anytime or get defoe or any other player to have a little word with him. we all know that goes on and has for years. managers and chairman who say they are upset about there players getting tapped are are playing a game to get more money. we as fans are the only real thing left in football. so time to move on.

Time to move on, weather permitting. The papers recycle crap to sell & we shouldn't bite every time. As how comes into the midfield, well, they have to be good because without it, we will struggle.

I like the player links you've spoken about as well, although paying more than 4.5 for Gary seems a bit o.t.t.

just think how the spurs right back must feel too (whoever he is). O'neil: I don't think boro will sell, manuel fernandes sounds promising, and would be excelent. benji would be good cover for crouch, edu... no idea. Barton - would annoy the rest of the team (especialy distin!), so would not be a good idea at all!

Whilst I understand the very mention of Johnson would annoy you the Defoe deal has worked fantastically well for you. You sold a player for nearly double. A player who wouldn't have joined Portsmouth if it wasn't for Harry Redknapp. What would worry me now if I was a Portsmouth fan is how Adams will spend it. I fear for you guys, I really do. A year ago you had the fantastic Pedro Mendes so if you end up with a thug like Joey Barton it will be the start of further problems ahead. Move on from the Redknapp articles now and start moving forward, we all know what Harry is like and he'll never change. But remember the good occasions like promotion and the FA Cup, no one can take that Cup win away from you. All the best

Mike THFC agree with a lot of what you say, I myself have moved on from HR, although his constant appearances in the press and TV make it hard to ignore him! I will always remeber the Cup win with fondness and our promotion year the same way, the way he left us twice was all done the wrong way, but that is Harry and no doubt he will do it again!

I agree, I have moved on from HR but he just gets everywhere and constantly comments on players that he has likes 'for sure' - apart from on the Wii advert! Still Utaka to Rangers - please, there obviously is a god. Suppose no chance of getting Pedro back?

Mike THFC - I like Paultsmouth agree with you - As for Simmo10 comments replace Harry with the word Sol and maybe we have a deal ! - Johna sour grapes as most Spurs fans will know after the Berbatov incident are quite addictive and difficult to wean yourself off of ;) - As for Harry and Pompey we are always gonna have a view (as we did with Bally) but it's probably about time to ignore most of it and accept it as the papers fuelling this kind of debate - As for Adams sure he's probably finding it hard but he'll come through.

Look fair enough if we were constantly talking about Harry and what he's doing at White Hart Lane but it's Harry who likes to talk about us, so we're going to have an opinion and a right to have a discussion about it.

I too, thought I had moved on and no doubt after this transfer window things will bedifferent. Harry is constantly talking about Portsmouth and what he did for us, and how he walked with his head held high. Well all the time he is spurting c--p like that, I feel the need to set the record straight. Harry did nothing for Portsmouth, he did it for his wages and himself, as it turns out. Portsmouth just happened to be the employer and the banker, that much is obvious. How you can walk away in the middle of the season and just 15 hours before a match starts and say you went with your head held high just totally eludes me. The man is morally bankrupt, and Portsmouth owes him nothing.

I think we are all trying to move on. The problem, is Harry hasn't mooved on, and keeps mentioning us in one way or another. He has been trying to take away our FA cup win - as have the press, who all claim that it is "harrys FA cup" not "pompeys" FA cup.

It's pretty obvious that Harry is paving the way for a summer attempt to sign Glenn Johnson. He's hoping that mentioning his name now will make him play poorly and perhaps get us relegated so it will probably trigger some release clause in Johnsons contract. Don't forget what happened last time you **** on us Harry.

Actually, any Spurs fan who thinks I shouldn't complain about Harry unsettling Pompey players can go back to August on these forums and see that I was complaining about the way he was unsettling Younes Kaboul. I don't like Harry's tricks now, and I didn't like them when he was our manager unsettling your players either. Don't worry too much about us, because you're the ones most at danger when Harry's in this mood. It's when Harry was unsettling players at Spurs, Liverpool, Reading, Man City, and Aston Villa, that he started to neglect affairs within his own team and things started to turn bad for us. If you see Harry unsettling players from a number of other clubs, you might want to nudge him and remind him about your club while there's still time.

jbaker thats right Saviola linked with Everton too would only be a loan till the end of season, & as forwards go Dindane from Lens also linked, but will Tony go with another Forward now as he seems to want to play 4-5-1, 4-3-3, guess we will know more soon.

I do wish HR would just shut up about Pompey, and if not, then stop being so arrogant and patronising. But we all know there will be wars of words and mind-games between now and Sunday, only when that's over can we really put it all behind us. As for Mike THFC, how does it work well for Pompey that one of our best players turns a strop and doesn't want to play for us anymore, unsettling the whole team with his negativity and thereby forcing us to let him go, and leave us short of strikers. At least we made some money out of it, but we would have preferred to have kept our England strikeforce intact thanks! Just as we would have preferred to have kept our manager. That wasn't 'best all round' either. Still in time, you'll all learn how much of what Harry says you can believe. (Not much).

Tracyc I know exactly what Harry is like an if he was offered the England job one day (which I doubt) he'll leave again I'm sure. But the point I was making with Defoe is he joined because of Redknapp and would've left to go anwhere when he left. You had a good year out of him and make a ridiculous profit.
