'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Well said that man!

Johnny Westwood has his knockers, but love him or loathe him he has earned a new found respect from me - I know people that know him personally and they always say what a genuine man he is, and I think he just proved it on sky sports news just now.

Speaking live on sky sports news he gave a fantastic interview that summed up everything that is true about the game and the situation many find themselves in as a result of their love for their respective clubs.

The fella interviewing him did not seem to understand where he was coming from at times, maybe that is because he too gets obscene amounts of money from sky sports to do his job and does not understand why anyone would want to knock the football gravy train...

Loyalty, a thing of the past in football - I would encourage anyone that missed his interview to try and find it somewhere and listen to it again, just brilliant. I reckon that just about every single footballer could do with listening to it as well, a few home truths might hit home if they did - although I doubt it!

You work for Skysports don't you...
got the tail end of the flu and saw the interview..well said Rug mate he did do well. newsnow portsmouth reporting several links to players. a forward from Argentina called Gaston playing for Appllon looks incredible on you tube-i know they all do
plymouth graham
if i worked for sky sports do you honestly think i would be sat here right now writing for this site! as much as i love it and love my club - yep, i am portsmouth till i die! - i wouldnt be doing this...
Anyone know if you can re watch the interview anywhere online?
they show sections of it on sky again, but the part where he starts talking about money and sky not being interested and so on without it i doubt that will be shown again...
Will have to try and find full interview somewhere. MAybe you tube?
John is a decent guy, more so when sober. Easy to be critical but he is always there supporting the club he & we all love.
He is Jeckle and Hide. Sober he is one of the nicelst guys you could meet, but a few drinks and he embarrases himslef, his club and his fellow supporters. Shame as he could be an Assett to Pompey that no other club has.
Shame I missed it as I am sure it would have been very interesting
Talking of Westwood, was he sat back in the Fratton End due to the large amounts of Bristol City fans, or because he managed to get hold of some general sale tickets and get it unnoticed?
Haven't seen the interview but i'm guessing from your remarks that he has blamed Sky for the money grabbing state of the game. Sky certainly has a lot to answer for, whilst it's great to be able to see so much of Pompey on the telly the money has ruined the game. Sky have far too much control over kickoff times. I honestly feel that the game was better for fans before sky got there hands on it and tried to make it an armchair fans game. We the real fans have suffered at the expense of those too lazy to get off their butts and go and sample the delights of a live football match. One thing Sky will never be able to recreate is the atmosphere of a live game. Ok thats my 2 pennorth time for me to stop ranting.

Get in unnoticed? How could he ever go unnoticed? Hope someone can come up with a link, would love to see the interview.
Good point. By unnoticed I mean he just turned up at the Fratton Endand was let in.
I'm sure he was allowed in because the Bristol Fans had the whole end. It seems wrong to me that he's been moved up to that end anyway, i believe it's because a jcl threatend to sue the club over the noise he makes. you only have to look at the last few games to see how the atmosphere has suffered because he's no longer in the Fratton End. There are times when he behaves like a pratt but John is Portsmouth to the core cut him open he'll have portsmouth written inside him like a stick of rock and he'll bleed blue blood. Portsmouth needs Westwood leading the fans when he's not allowed to the whole place suffers.

On another point various reports claiming Arsenal are coming in for Krunchy wit a 10m bid, now we'll really see where the clubs intent on going. Selling anymore of our first team squad will only lead to ruin.

Haven't seen the interview .. but as others have said John 'can' speak a lot of sense at times... On the point about him leading the fans in the Fratton End.. Saturday was really interesting... His 'departure' from the Fratton End was a loss I admit but since he has been at the Milton End three of four sections of the Fratton have found their voice and are 'starting' to sort out the singing and so on... Johns constant bellringing and scummer chants on Saurday did more harm to the long term atmosphere at the Fratton End (without him) than good. It's taken three or four months for some to build up the courage to start a song or even join in the singing but on Saturday as soon as somebody from another part of the Fratton End started to sing it got bellrung all over - I've great respect for some of the things John does but he ain't the 'leader' of the fans .... Ask yourself where he was for the AC Milan game .. was he responsible for the atmosphere eminating from the Fratton End all the way around the ground .. Peace and Love, Peace and Love.. oh it was also very funny how on Saturday he was sat in his old seat (or very close to it) .. so I don't reckon he just got any old ticket .. it must have been pre arranged..
this guy is a legend. We are now not the loudest football fans stoke city are.Let him back he does no harm except ring the bell and bring the smell teddy lol
stfc ballboy
cant find it anywhere.. has only got redknapp talking *****e and defoe with his stupid hat
There was definitely a massive increase in the amount of Southampton directed songs on saturday, and I don't think it was all down to Stern John playing. It will be interesting to see just how hated Wayne Bridge will be on Saturday, after all he was linked with us several times over the last year.
*how Wayne Bridge will be treated
I agree with Chix, i sit in the Fratton end and the atmosphere is better without John than with him. Sorry but he does only sing Anti-Scum songs, and if you dont sing his songs he bell rings over you. I like the man, but the atmosphere is better without him... Oh and all those saying the atmosphere was poor against Bristol, can i ask you... Where was Johnny? YEp in the Fratton End. Case closed!
