Redknapp - I have done nothing wrong

Redknapp - I have done nothing wrong

Jermain Defoe 'was' expected to complete his move away from the club by Wednesday - although it is still likely to be done, and be done to Spurs so he can be reunited with the one he loves Harry Redknapp there are a few rumblings that I am getting that 'maybe' Inter are in the market with Jose Mourinho keen...

Redknapp is pleading his usual 'it is up to them what they do, if I cannot get him I will move on' speech but more interestingly are his claims on sky sports news that he feels he has done 'nothing wrong' in his pursuit of Defoe: 'the chairman has dealt with it. He has gone in there and made an offer.

'I have not gone in for any other players at Portsmouth. I have not made any enquiries there.

'If they don't want to sell him they don't have to.'

Rubbish has he done nothing wrong, if his constant mentioning of the player by name and his wanting to sign him is doing 'nothing wrong' then he has not, but he keeps mentioning him, and Stewart Downing at Boro by name, who has now requested a transfer as a result - if that is not 'tapping players up' then I do not know what it!

It also seems more than a strange coincidence that Defoe has 'received death threats similar to what Redknapp did when he went to Southampton' - the strikers apparent words, which seem to suggest that a certain someone might have been 'whispering' in his ear, and I also suggest he - or his agent - did prior to the cup game as well...

Ok, it is fair to say that he did not come here to play for Portsmouth Football Club, so we probably are better off without him in all honesty but the cheek of Redknapp to claim that he has done nothing wrong is incredible - he used to do it when he was here all the time, mentioning players by name and unsettling them, not to mention annoying rivals fans and managers. I seem to recall Steve Coppell being livid with him for his public pursuit of Nicky Shorey in the summer.

Did we not see him doing this when he was here, or did we choose not to?

It is a shame that the boot has had to be on the other foot for us to fully realise how disrespectful and underhanded his actions are...

In another bizarre twist on the dealing and his own defence Redknapp has not too long ago said that 'he would not sell Defoe' if he was Pompey - is this him trying to 'defend' his recent actions, even though he 'did nothing wrong', or is it because he knows that Spurs fans are actually torn on wanting Defoe back at the club - and they are torn! The Spurs fans vented their anger against Hossam Ghaly when he was due to come on for Spurs on Friday, and the fans call the shots! He walked on water here and got to do what he wanted, not at Spurs and he does not like this - how long before he walks, hmm...

Anyway, 'reports' were surfacing earlier that we had buckled in our valuation, but now reports are saying that Spurs are around £1.5m away from our valuation, with it also thought that Spurs are refusing to pay enough upfront - and 'if' word that I am getting coming through is right that Inter do want him, and more is being sought on this, it is thought they have offered around £18m - and they 'do' have money to play with, so if they are offering more than Spurs we should rightly accept that.

The signs are this could rumble on for a little longer yet, and it 'could' become feasible that he could still here at the weekend, hence why Tony Adams is starting to talk around the thoughts that he could play for us again, even though sky sports do not believe a word of it...

Well, as we all know, things are never simple with Pompey!

For the hell of it, and as I want to add it somewhere I will add in my own little bit of 'speculation' here and see where it gets us, talk at the weekend was that Reading were prepared to let Leroy Lita leave for as little as £350,000 - good god, if this is true we should get in there...

Why is it that we only see how sneaky Harry is AFTER he has left us. Never noticed it before, it never occured to me that he did that to anyone before. But now it is SO annoying.

I agree completely. He wont stop mentioning Defoe by name and claiming "Its up to them if they want to sell him". He did exactly the same thing when he was trying to lure Defoe (and Kaboul for that matter) to Pompey in the 1st place!! Not nice is it.

When Harry was at Pompey and you signed Mendes (plus the others) and the fans you have there (and that awful bell ringing all the damn time) I used to cheer Pompey and enjoyed watching you. Then Defoe went there and I was livid, hated selling him and at least he went to a good club that I liked so hey ho. Then he scores a bag full of goals and I am so pleased for Pompey and for JD. I loved straight talking Harry and was THRILLED when he came to Spurs. Happy Days, and if JD comes home too that would be wonderful. Sorry guys, poor old Pompey, you loose Harry and JD BUT WORSE you have that Donkey ADAMS as manager!!!!!!! OMG I feel for you guys....good luck Pompey is what I say, great FANS great tradition, shame about the Owner and Adams - the ground is horrible but still has the feel of an English football ground with atmosphere etc. So good luck Pompey I wish you well, or as you lot say, "play up Pompey"

i am just disappiointed with myself that i did not notice it more, well i did, but did not question it when he was here - it isnt right and should not be allowed...
i think that levy - is that the spurs bloke? - is going to have to think twice tho before he 'moans' about another club 'tapping up' his players again tho isnt he, particularly with HR in charge...

Can't stand him. Always shouting who wants who and how he can't get them. He said we wanted Kaboul over the summer, when we never did, because he's a good old *****.

Yep, life with Harry is like lying down with the lions...there's a lot of rough with a lot of smooth...trouble is, we love the smooth, don't we? The great escape, the FA about a parallel world where we'd never met Harry? Would we really want it? (And the same question could go to Spurs fans as well - though they are still not in the healthiest position, they must be a lot more hopeful than with Ramos and with a strong chance of retaining the League Cup) It's like an exciting love affair - great while it lasts but cr*p when it's over and would you rather it had never happened at all?

He'll try every trick in the book to get his man. There's a part of me that says give in so we can be rid of Harry's stories in the press about us, the other part says over my dead body.
05/01/2009 18:21:00
Harry played dirty but did not realise just how dirty he played. But we had a ball last year, and I suppose I am glad to have met the man (so to speak). He's turned Defoe's head doubtless - but the lad's too thick to hide it. In fact, he has dropped himself and Harry right in it with his "I have had the same phone calls as Harry had when he left for Soton". Also, the police have apparently no record of Defoe having made a complaint. It stinks.

michael.thfc Adams has won more titles than what your tiny club has in it's existence & he knows a lot more about winning things than that old uncle you have there at your tiny little has been of a club. looking at the league table, im still confident that the Totescum Relegation Party 2009 will happen. & Pompey fans, Big Tone will surely come good for you guys, the way that old thug left your club in the middle of the season & took away your first team coach too, the job of managing the team in the middle of all this is not an easy job. Give The Legend some time & judge him next season, i'm sure he will turn things around & it'll be all good. and also yu will finish above the Spuds in the league this season & next season too ;) cheers!!

No Crawley return for Tubbs

Tubbs doesn't have a future at Pompey, he's on the transfer-list but offloading him could be difficult given his wages. These wouldn't be anywhere within Crawley's reach.

Pitfalls of Sheffield Wednesday loanee returning

As Catlin put it 'the gamble' of aiming sign Sheffield Wednesday loanee Lavery has to be one Pompey fans understand. It isn't as cut and dried as saying 'he's a free agent' sign him!

Lassie coming home...well sort of!

A-box-to-box player, capable of defensive duties, with ability to burst forward with intent to make things happen - Diarra is Pompey's man and wants an England return. I jest of course!

Will pair stay at Fratton?

It's been made (more than once) clear by Catlin Pompey want Davies & Hollands to stay. Both (also more than once) have said they want to this - deals have to be right for all concerned.
