Histon or Swansea... maybe!

Our defence of the FA cup, yep that is Portsmouth Football Club's defence, although despite the shockingly poor coverage we have received as such and the fact that the media bandwagon are intent on portraying it as 'Harry Redknapp's FA cup defence' will continue at Fratton 'if' we overcome Bristol City in our 3rd round replay a week Tuesday.

If we do get through, and I pray we do, then the winner of the Histon and Swansea game awaits - although that is a game that had to be rearranged and 'if' not settled on its rearranged date then the 4th round meeting with whoever will have to be rescheduled.

Hopefully, to keep it simple - and fit in with my own pre-booked travel plans - we can win, Histon and Swansea can sort out their game at the first time of asking and we can have a game on the Saturday anytime from 3pm onwards, win and move into round 5, easy in theory...

Well, Redknapp will continue 'his defence' at Old Trafford again in round 4, providing Manyoo beat Scum today of course - a rare occasion where I will want Manyoo to win, well that will make two rare occasions!

if its HRs defence of the cup then how come we still have it in our trophy cabinet. give us some respect. not one man makes a club *cough* redknapp *cough* defoe *cough*

saying that... if the media are going to be an-al about it then how about making it "kanu's fa cup" to defend ... for he scored the winning goal...! lol. back to reality ... i think its a good draw for us and hopefully this will motivate the team to beat bristol city.

as much as i like seeing non-league teams get through, i think i would prefer to play swansea. can you imagine the build-up that the game with hston would get, and if we didn't win by at least 8 then we would "have underachieved". and imagine if we were to lose, i wouldn't be able to cope.

well, having witnessed histon beat two of my friends teams (swindon then leads) - and laughed hystericly at them... loosing is unthinkable now though!

Good draw but are we playing well enough to get to the last 16 is the really big question?

the media`s treatment of pompey since HR left has been appalling , as soon as he left they were unsettling the team with the help of redknapp, on todays sunday supplement on sky the journo`s on there seemed to forget that diarra said on his arrival that he was`nt at pompey for the long term how can we compete with real madrid and a 20million offer , the same goes for muntari and inter milan ,it will be the same for defoe when he goes to spuds for a vast amount of money . all the media want to do is put the boot in ,

Did Mike Riley get out of Hampshire alive? Although I got home yesterday feeling that I had been watching a pile of cack, I didn't feel that BCFC were that threatening. We didn't look like we could win but they didn't really look like they could score either.

Stop moaning and just keep that cup nice and shiny for Mr Redknapp. Its the least we can do whilst he is out there defending it.

It'll be interesting to see if HIS 'Spurs' side can defeat Manchester United the same way 'HIS' Pompey side did... It really should be a doddle for him .. shouldn't it ?

our team isnt too much different than the one that won the competition last year. we have lost diarra and muntari, but we have gained crouch and kaboul, and johnson is alot better player now. we won it without defoe, so people can't argue that without him we have less of a chance. let's take it one game at a time and see where it takes us.

These first 2 draws should be so easy on paper - but somehow they don't seem it right now. Watched Havant & Waterlooville demolish Swansea in the cup last season, now I'm not even confident Pompey can do it. Back at work tomorrow, I'm going to be ripped to shreds, not only by the West Ham fan, but also the Torquay Utd supporter - his team BEAT a championship side! Come on Pompey, lets get it together soon, PLEEEEZE!

jbaker not sure where you are coming from? Our side is not as good as it was then. The loss of Muntari, Diarra and Mendes has really weakened the middle of the park and it is ok having added crouch, but if we cannot take control in the middle, he will not get the opportunities he needs either! We have a great chance of progressing, but if we have any dreams of success for the retention of the cup, and survival, we will have to put some true quality back in the middle of the paRK!

Wakey, spot on mate. The midfield was dire on Saturday - no quality whatsoever. Sean Davis was voted man of the match again, despite being mediocre - that just shows the lack of quality amongst the rest of them.

The midfield links the attack & defence. A poor midfield gives you a poor team. I admire Davis for his effort but that is nothing to what you got from Diarra, Muntari or Mendes. These are world class players who have/are/will done it all. You wouldn't put Davis in that class. He is the best of a pretty poor bunch.

Wakey & Matt I'm with you, as i have said in the past we have many c-mid players but all ball winners ,chasers call them what you like but none with the passing or man-beating class of Muntari,Mendes or Diarra

Furthermore the defence that played in the FA cup last year has gotten another year older and is not even remotely as consistent as they were last year. And speaking of Mendes did anyone see his goal from over the weekend...god i miss that class!
