Christophe/'more rumours'/Belhadj just the start
Christophe seals Southend move
The first January departure has been confirmed, with Jean Francois Christophe completing a permanent move to Southend - if he remained the only departure, other than Lassie - who was technically the first departure - of course, I think most would be happy...
He arrived after a successful trial during pre-season a couple of years back but has unsurprisingly failed to make the breakthrough and joins Southend after a successful loan spell for a 'nominal fee', with a future sell-on fee clause also included - so all in all for a free transfer signing we have done a 'decent' bit of business here.
Good luck to him, the better he does the better we will do in the future - although to be honest I will not be holding my breath on him becoming a 'world beater'...

Silly season really is here...
You know well and truly that 'silly season' has arrived when a paper prints a story that claims Spurs made a £30m approach for Glen Johnson, Peter Crouch and Jermain Defoe!
'If' we were so massively crippled by debts we would cash in on that out of necessity, but as is, despite the fact we - and everyone else - is in debt I do believe that it is not that bad we would have to.
£30m is an 'insulting offer' so jog on Mr Redknapp, or I guess to be fair the paper that printed such stupid rumours...
Speaking of Redknapp - I did not realise how annoying and unsettling the fella was until the boot was on the other foot!
Opposing fans, and even managers, have in the past been angered by his willingness to talk openly about players 'he liked' and wanted to sign, and how unsettling this is - and he has done this today with Defoe and West Ham's Craig Bellamy with his, well basically public taping up of the pair.

Cup final trio join others in missing out
3 of the players that were part of our FA cup winning side - of those still with us - have been ruled out as our defence begins at the weekend at home to Bristol City.
Injury will prevent Glen Johnson, John Utaka and Papa Bouba Diop - with the latter facing a long-term layoff - from featuring.
Injury will also rule out Richard Hughes and Younes Kaboul - whole I think we desperately need fit again and playing alongside Sylvain Distin. Signs of improvement were seen when they played together.
The worry of an exit against City is there, but I pray this does not happen. Chances are we cannot defend the cup but I would hate us to go out in round 3...

Storrie - more will follow Belhadj
Peter Storrie, or 'the modern day Pinocchio' as he has been christened by someone recently, but I cannot remember who - something that I like, has claimed that Nadir Belhadj will not be the only arrival this January.
It is now said that we got £19.5m for Lassana Diarra and 12% - or £2.4m - will go to Arsenal, a large amount will surely go towards paying off debts, and rightly so - with it being a guess that around £6m or £7m max could be available to Tony Adams after all this? And a lot has been used on the Algerian. Loans and the return of a former star - with his club still owing us money - seem the route we will take.
The modern day Pinocchio also again 'rubbished' rumours that players have to go, again 'stressing' only exceptional offers will be accepted. He did say that he did not expect much business to happen in January though, with 'most dealings' lined up for the summer...
As always 'time will tell' and 'lets wait and see' though...

Lauren and Duffy told they can go!
'Pinocchio' - its easier than keep saying 'the modern day Pinocchio' also today confirmed that Lauren and Richard Duffy have been told they are free to leave the club.
Lauren for me should have had his contract terminated following his recent comments - and surely we had grounds to do this without paying it up? As for Duffy, what a waste of space he has been! How the hell, or should that be why the hell, we have kept him for so long I doubt we will ever know - greed on his behalf perhaps? Either way I may even break out the Champers 'if' he does finally go...
Thoughts on all please guys!

Redknapp hasnt ruled defoe out but he is intrested in johnson + crouch.Looks like adams might ave to look for a new striker aswell as a midfielder.Glad belhadj is signed up hopwfully his form will come back to.Sad to see christophe go he seems really gd at southend still think 1 for the future.

I said 18mths ago that Christophe looked a talent, shame we wont get to see the end product. Not really sure what to think about Crouch and Defoe except to say i'm hacked off with the negative long ball hump up to Crouchie...God we're better than that...so is he!!!!!

Harry unsettling as many players as he can! Don't think Crouch will go, Defoe maybe, Jonno maybe

Crouch would be daft to go back to a situation where he's not playing every week. You can tell by the energy he uses every game how much it means to him (unlike JD who is being a sulky little berk). I think we need to plan for a near-future without GJ. Let's start to be a bit more positive about what we might get IN as well as worrying about who's going to b****r off.

Glen johnson will be hard - if not impossible to replace. Someone like Engelaar (who I keep going on about, as he is the only person I can think of) is needed in midfield, and we will probably need a new striker and right winger. Podolski has requested a transfer from Bayern Munich, any chance we could go in for him?

oh, and as Sahar is going back to chelsea... why not see if we could get Vela on loan from arsenal? he made a massive difference when he came on against us - and aparantly middlesbrough are trying to get him on loan too?

You can't have two players on loan from the same club if memory serves me correctly so Vela isn't an option. I think we could see the departure of JD and GJ, but if in return we get GON and Engelaar in that would be massive. Podolski probably a little expensive for our tastes.

Redknapp has always done it, he's a orrible geezer is old 'Arry. He certainly doesn't like the banter unless it is him giving out as we found out at Villa Park in the last 2 seasons!
The Fear
hope we keep Johnson we can not replace him, Defoe would also be a miss unless we get over 20 mill, & would have only have 3 strikers, Nugent being used in midfield too.

Christophe and Duffy show the clubs inability to turn talent in to players, i know little of Christophe but Duffy was signed from under the noses of several other clubs and was expected to be the next big star defender. Over the years we've had a host of young players that have failed to develop to their full potential in the current financial climate it's a neccesity to put this right.

Totenham now say they will write off the 4 mill we owe for Defoe & pay another 8 mill, sorry your still a long way short, & will be cup tied saturday, now that would be funny.

Defoe should definitely be played on Saturday so that he's cup tied - lets bring him on for 10 minutes! We are likely to lose Johnson, not because he wants to go particularly, but there's bound to be a good offer from a big club for him. Still at least we have a trainee replacement in Wilson - although Tony is saying he wants to send Wilson out on loan. How good does he need to get?

Defoe will go, Johnson no, We will find it more of a miss if we can't hold on to Glen, Wilson did well against the dutch, but right back is not his first position.
