'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Fact or fiction, true or false...

Look at it whichever way you will but the Glen Johnson 'injury setback' could not have come at a worse, or more 'convenient', or should that be inconvenient, time really could it. The 'relapse' of his injury in training yesterday stinks of 'a cover-up' for him to then be sold in January does it not?

I would be a liar if I said this thought had not crossed my mind, but 'naively' so perhaps I still clung to that hope that this was a 'genuine' injury - so I asked around to see what 'my sources' could come up with and the injury that Johnson does have is 'known' for the relapses that it has, this commonly happens...

Time will tell what the future holds with him, but my thinking was we could keep him until the summer at least? I might not be so sure now, but I do believe that he is genuinely injured.

These 'investigations' also brought news that the amount of players that Pompey are 'scouting' is surprising many - and we genuinely are looking at a lot of players, and we are being 'linked' to a lot already, despite the fact that we have 'little' money. All very strange...

I have said it before, and the closer the transfer window gets and the more 'indifferent' our form may become the more rumour will grow about players and the club in general - the thing we mostly have to remember is though we 'support the club', and that should not change, truth from those who run it would not go amiss, and it is hard to know what actually is 'fact or fiction' or 'true or false' with what comes from Portsmouth Football Club anymore!

We should find out a lot about the state of the club and the players currently at it in the coming weeks, but the underling feature is 'whatever happens we cannot change what is going to happen' but supporting the club - through thick and thin - is something we must continue to do, and we will.

Of course if people want to go let them go, but if not, 'should' this 'mass exodus' that is predicted happen then I will be interested to see how those that run the club can talk themselves out of it and will also be interested to see what they want to charge us for season tickets and general tickets next season - and how these prices 'might' be justified as well.

It is so hard for us not to fall into these 'conspiracy theory' trail of thought at this time, and the 30 days or so ahead of us will be turbulent ones, but stressing too much about factors we cannot do anything about is not going to help us I guess is it? Of course as fans we worry about the clubs future, but we cannot change it can we - stressing and worrying will not change things, let those that have to justify this to the angry mob do this!

Back to the main point I guess, yep I know I often tend to go 'off on one', Johnson may well go, but I am not buying this 'being wrapped in cotton wool' nonsense - if he was fit to face West Ham on Boxing Day I am certain that he would, if fit to face Arsenal on Sunday he will. I think that Lassie showed 'if fit' you will play, as why risk injury at the last with a move to Madrid looming? Did this not show that he was injured for the rest of the time claimed, it was a strange 'ploy' of forcing their hand otherwise...

it'd be sad to see him join some shoddy outfit like Spurs!

I am sure he is on his way out, another player we have developed beyond belief and are now being forced to sell, these are sad times, never mind we have that loyal servant Lauren to fill in, have i been drinking or what!!
Owenspompey
yh another great player that will leave hopefully snub the spurs for liverpool.Hopefully adams will realise that wilson / cranie will play there two good young players.
stfc ballboy
cranie hasn't been the same since he broke his leg - before that, he looked to have a VERY bright future. sincehen... I havn't heard anything! Loosing Johnson would be a MASSIVE loss, as we simply don't have any cover at right back. (unless you want to play people out of position... which is never a good idea!)

Defoe to Villa anyone? That's the word on the streets.

Will if Jonno is to go, like Diarra it should be to a top, top, top team. In England then you can see him at Man Utd, replacing Gary Neville. £15m please. No doubt the winds of change will blow through the sails of Pompey, not sure for the better, but like it or not, change will come.

I'm pretty relaxed about January. I think most people accept that we've been playing badly for nearly a year. There have been good performances in there, but on the whole, we haven't consistently played like a team during that time. So long as we get good prices for the players we sell, and so long as the vast majority of that money goes back the Big Tony, we should be in a position to let him build a new team, and one that plays as a team, not as a group of individuals.
PhilTaglia
hey phil my thougts exactly..let all go buy some good players who will keep us in the division and a cup run. forget the pretensions of grandeur we are Pompey

True Phil. Good interview with Adams in the Telegraph today. I expect Jonno to go though. Unless we start playing as a team again, I really do fear for us and most of you know that I'm usually pretty optimistic. The warning signs are there, so spend wisely Tony.

That's if Sasha trust's him to spend it. I think a few more bad defeats & he will be gone.
