Sol - sort it out fellas!

Sol - sort it out fellas!

Sol Campbell has hit out at the 'behind the scenes' issues that he fears could derail of our season, turning would promised to be a positive one - as we looked to build on the success from previous years - into one of hardship...

The things that the captain speaks about, in what he told The News, are concerns over players futures, both those in and nearing the end of their contracts - including himself - and the ownership issues of the club and what this uncertainty will mean: 'there are a million and one things going round the club. The club situation and other things behind the scenes don't help really.

'From top to bottom everyone has got to be singing from the same hymn sheet and there's a knock-on effect.

'The preparation is good, it's pretty spot on, but there are a lot of things at the club that really need to be resolved - and we have also got to resolve things on the pitch.

'It's not just about contracts, a lot of things have to be sorted on and off the field.

'A good club would keep on going and things have to be sorted off the field and on the field.

'The powers that be need to sort their side out now. It's difficult but once all of that is sorted you will see a better club.

'It's a difficult situation now so we all must work hand in hand.'

'Tough times', if this is as tough as he, and others, have seen it then they have had it easy - things have been much tougher for Pompey in the past, and not so distant past at that...

Whilst I would agree with Campbell in as much as all the 'off field activity' is most definitely a distraction and something that we do not need or want, he - and others - are professional footballers who do get paid a fortune to play football so when matchday comes around they should be right on their game and do what they are paid to do, as he says 'preparation is spot on' so there should be no excuse on that score.

I am sure that some of the players that we do have genuinely care, but when all is said and done they will get paid their fortunes whatever happens and can move on - and plenty probably would given the chance - we, the fans, are the ones mostly effected by this!

Sacha Gaydamak has now made it clear that he wants to move on, and if the right buyer is found he will. With him saying that 'the right buyer' means the right buyer for the club, not necessarily him - Whilst I do believe his thoughts and motives we will find out soon enough 'if' he really does 'care' about the club as much as it is said...

Yep, he is a businessman when all is said and done but if he totally rips the squad apart in the coming month then that is not the fan we thought he was, or things - debts - are a lot worse than the club say, with it believed these debts are actually 'manageable', despite reports to the contrary, and the departure of Lassana Diarra 'should' make these even more so.

I know I must be boring you by now by constantly saying it, but I will say it again 'if' players want to go, so long as we get a top price for them we 'should' let them go, on the other hand if we do not 'need' to sell players and they do not want to go then we 'should not' force them into doing so, as I like to say 'loyalty cuts both ways!'

We have to brace ourselves for a turbulent month ahead - but none of us really know what to expect do we, none of us can really say we 'definitely' know what will happen, but we sure as hell will find out soon enough. Whatever happens though we must, as fans, stick together though - we have done it in the past when the going has been very tough, surely we can do it again in the future as things 'should' never get as bad as they have been at their very worst...

I think these players need to get out more. If a few 'admin' problems at the club cause them to play $h1te they could, perhaps consider teaching or being a Postie or working nights, stacking shelves in Tescos. Then they may realise that a bit of effort, you know, running around quickly after the opposition and kicking the ball to someone on YOUR team, isn't all that bad. I'm sick of 'precious' players earning a fortune, showing little loyalty and sometimes little effort. The Premiership, with all it's overpaid players and staff has run its course and it's only aerosoles like the Arabs at Man Citeh that are keeping it going. Was it correct that Abramovitch's main company was bailed out by the Russian Government a couple of weeks ago to the tune of, nearly 2 billion? Immoral is an understatement. Give me REAL footballers earning REASONABLE wages playing ORDINARY teams, any day. So stop winging and play as well and hard as you can - or naff off.

yeah get campbell out he is getting old and dont do nothing anymore.Maybe campbell can go with pamarot with a buy 1 get 1 free :).To many of our players have there head elsewhere.TA needs to sort this out and get the best out of our players if they dont want to play for our club they can go.I actually fear for this season we are not up to standard since harry gone.Bring in avrm grant to help us out or get a new manager because adams is not up to scartch for this club to many draws. We will be doomed soon if this carrys on !!!!! SORT IT OUT

yep the more you get paid the less you have much of a leg to stand on to play the old moody game. My season cost me what Sol earns in about 80 mins - that's not even a whole match - while I have to save hard to get the cash each year. Now if I see Sol and the boys playing their guts out for me every week, I don't care about this disparity after all at 43, 5 foot 6, and four stone overweight I could hardly be a replacement for him on the pitch but without the backbone, it's all a waste of what is precious money for all of us up the Park.

Heaven forbid the average bloke at work, on an average salary wondering whether the company he works for will exist next year & that he still has a job. His mortgage & his familiies existance are at stake. Fckin naff excuses to cover up the ineptitude of the last few months. Hard working supporters travelling all over Europe, up & down the country, even home games arn't home for some of us. Shut up, sort it out on the pitch, stop moaning you over privilaged ungrateful gits or sod off.

I say get them out all of them let them play somewhere else. Get in the youth team or players from lower level clubs who are ambitious. Put some bite into them..mind you i would love to keep Johnson. Therefore i want a new left back-belhadj is suspect defending and a new cental defender to play with Kaboul. complete new midfiels except for Krunchie, and crouch and nugent up top. out; James, Campbell,Distan The H man-all, Kanu too old. out Diop, and Pamerot-crap, out davis headless chicken, out Defoe harry's boy. the trouble is only one of these would collect a a reasonable fee the rest would be free's. in No Idea. not edu

I don't think sol fully understands... His job is to play football, not run a football club!
23/12/2008 10:06:00
him and James need a kick up the backside and need to be dropped. If Kaboul is fit, play him, and give Ashdown a run

Haven't got anything to add that hasn't already been said really - Sol is supposed to be the captain and has to take responsibility for him and the rest of the players sorting it out on the pitch. By all means have a moan on training days, but don't air the dirty linen in public, and don't let it affect the professional performance they are so well paid to provide on the pitch. There are about 5 football clubs up for sale, including Liverpool, don't think their players are all sulking about it. If ours keep sulking, then lets sell them off for good money and bring in some commitment.
