Diarra agrees Madrid move

Lassana Diarra's appearance against Bolton yesterday and his own words appeared to cast 'slight doubts' over his move to Madrid, but this will be signed, sealed and delivered on January 1st - assuming a medical is successfully completed tomorrow, which should be a mere formality.

Pompey issued this statement on the Pompey Site: 'Lassana Diarra has agreed to join Real Madrid in January.

'Pompey agreed a deal with the Spanish champions for the 23-year-old France international last Wednesday.

'The deal is subject to Diarra completing a medical and signing a contract, both of which are due to take place tomorrow (Monday).

'Diarra, who has played for Le Havre, Chelsea and Arsenal.'

Best of luck to Lassie, hopefully one day we will meet again - and of course if we do with him still at Madrid then that would mean only one thing, champions league, well we can at least dream...

Fantastic player. My total pleasure to say I saw him pull on the Blue shirt with passion. It was fleeting, but my God what memories he left. Cheers Dolphin head, thanks for everything...Nothing but honest from the start!

Good luck to the man, he will be missed, but he deserves his chance at the big time. Thanks for all the great memories in such a short time

Good Luck to the little fella, a move both he and Pompey could not turn down. Now Tony please use whatever money you have wisely because after the last 2 performances we are in a relegation battle and I fear the New Year may not be a happy one!
bluedr
Shame we won't see him on boxing day (well not playing anyway). If at all

A legend in 12 months. Never to be forgotton. Will we get a farewell appearence against West Ham. Can we have aclause in the contract that we play Real Madrid on a home & away basis for the anglo-spanish cup, unlikely as it that we play them in Europe. Thank you LD for helping us to win the FA Cup & for giving us our greatest football day ever.
storagematt
Medical passed by all accounts. Good luck LD!! and thanks for everything.

the man's a genius, we were lucky to have him (ta Harry) and hopefully we will aim to maintain a high standard of recruits. I am only sorry that he wasn't there v Milan. A whole new world...

The BBC News site has Tony Adams saying that the full £20M goes to him ( after we've paid off the bit we owe Arsenal, presumably ) and he already had money to spend in January anyway. Should this be true, then I would have to say this was a good deal. Inevitably he was going to go. This way, we get good money to spend and he doesn't play for a week-in week-out rival.

Tony sounds reportedly cheerful to the point of hysterics recently. Either he has some secret deal which is bringing Ronaldinho to FP (perhaps he was beguiled by the splendidly retro facilities when they visited in November) OR TA has finally lost the plot.

Good luck Lassa and thank you. Real Madrid are a club worthy of his talents. He is quoted tonight as saying that Man citeh offered him more money, but he preferred Real. Well, who wouldn't? Ha ha, citeh, told you so, na na na na na!
